Synopsis

Among the immortals of Heaven, Bihua Lingjun is known for one rather peculiar weakness: an irrepressible fondness for furry spirit beasts. His residence is home to all manner of rare creatures, and he is happiest when surrounded by his beloved collection. When an unusual egg formed from wish-granting jade comes into his possession, promising to hatch whatever its keeper desires, Bihua eagerly takes on the task of nurturing it. Yet instead of some magnificent celestial creature, the egg produces a little spirit tiger. The other immortals are baffled, but Bihua could not be more delighted.

Unfortunately, his new companion is anything but ordinary in temperament. The seemingly innocent tiger has a remarkable talent for causing trouble, particularly among the other inhabitants of Bihua’s residence. Meanwhile, Danzhu, an ancient phoenix emperor whose status commands the respect of Heaven itself, brings an entirely different sort of disturbance to the celestial realm. Beneath his formidable reputation lies a restless, willful immortal whose interest in Bihua soon proves far more persistent than anyone might have expected.

What begins as an amusing entanglement gradually develops into something more complicated. Amid heavenly gossip, divine responsibilities, and encounters in the mortal world, Danzhu and Bihua find themselves confronting feelings that neither celestial rank nor countless years of existence can easily explain. Their growing closeness is accompanied by misunderstandings, unspoken desires, and questions about the nature of affection itself. For immortals accustomed to watching centuries pass, even the simplest matters of the heart can prove astonishingly difficult.

Yet some bonds are older than memory, and not every story begins where it appears to. As long-buried events and forgotten connections emerge, the meaning of their relationship begins to change. Beneath its playful celestial comedy, Wishful Egg unfolds into a tender story of longing, devotion, separation, and the possibility of finding one another again. In a world where wishes can take unexpected forms, the greatest miracle may not be what hatches from an egg, but what the heart has quietly treasured all along.
