LC – Chapter 25: First Battle Against a Cultivator! We Won!

Xia Yunzhao flipped down to the ground. By the time he turned around, his mask was already on his face. He glanced behind him and saw no one; Shang Shuangze had not come down with him. He relaxed. Fellow Daoist Shang really did have an understanding with him.

When he turned back, the entire Fang family group was staring at him. The fourth-layer Qi Refining cultivator leading them had a pair of sinister triangular eyes and was looking Xia Yunzhao up and down.

Xia Yunzhao cupped his hands. “Fellow Daoist, I’m searching for a Moonlight Cicada. Since you have no use for it, would you be willing to part with it? I’m willing to pay market price.”

The triangular-eyed cultivator narrowed his eyes and said coldly, “No. The Fang family head has given orders: not a single living Moonlight Cicada is permitted to remain on Liancui Mountain.”

Xia Yunzhao’s dislike of the Fang family deepened another degree. What an overbearing way of doing things. The Moonlight Cicada was born and raised by Heaven and earth. What does it have to do with your Fang family?!

He frowned and was considering trying to persuade them when, before he could even speak, the cultivator gestured. The surrounding people immediately spread out and encircled him.

Xia Yunzhao was so angry he laughed. “What, I’m not trying to steal your Moonlight Cicada, but now you want to rob me instead?”

“Not rob you.” The triangular-eyed cultivator forced the words between his teeth. “It’s just that since you saw us, we can’t allow you to leave alive! Attack!”

At the command, the guards surged forward, while the other three cultivators closed in as well.

Xia Yunzhao’s heart tightened. He had not expected the Fang family to be this tyrannical. Simply seeing them meant death? With the scale of their operation, how many people had they already killed?

…Or did it not matter if mortals saw them, and only cultivators had to be silenced?

He activated the Lightness Technique and easily avoided the guards’ attacks, only to be entangled by the four cultivators. They were not necessarily faster than he was, but there were more of them.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of a sword leaving its sheath. Moonlight-white radiance appeared behind him… and Xiao Xia’s heart instantly settled back into place.

The triangular-eyed cultivator was startled. “There’s someone else…? Go stop him!”

Almost before the words left his mouth, a scream rang out.

The triangular-eyed cultivator looked stunned. “How…”

Xiao Xia watched him and sneered. “How can you get distracted in the middle of a fight?”

With that, he chopped out with his palm.

This was the first time he had fought a cultivator in a proper battle, so naturally he was nervous. Fortunately, he had worked extremely hard lately. No matter how busy he was, he practiced the Hundred-Form Palm a hundred times every day and never once slacked off in his cultivation.

Otherwise, no matter how talented he was, he could not possibly have broken through so quickly the moment he entered the spirit pool. That breakthrough had only been the result of accumulated effort finally paying off.

Still, both of them were now at the fourth layer of Qi Refining. Xiao Xia had only just broken through, while no one knew how long the triangular-eyed cultivator had remained at this level. Their combat experience could not be compared at all.

The triangular-eyed cultivator dodged Xia Yunzhao’s palm. In the next instant, a streak of fire shot directly toward Xia Yunzhao’s face. As Xia Yunzhao moved to evade it, a black iron claw suddenly appeared in the man’s right hand and slashed toward the opening on Xia Yunzhao’s left.

Xiao Xia’s heart tightened. Fortunately, the Lightness Technique had already become instinctive. It carried him away in an instant, and the foul-smelling iron claw only tore through the clothes on his left side.

Right. Cultivators have endless ways of attacking—spells, martial techniques, talismans, magical artifacts, magical treasures… No one has to hang themselves from a single tree.

In a flash, the iron claw attacked again—clang!—and struck a Vinewood Shield glowing with purple light. The two immediately recoiled apart.

Behind the shield, Xiao Xia had already put on his Protective Vine Armor.

The triangular-eyed cultivator smiled contemptuously. “Lowest-grade magical artifact.” Before the four words had even finished leaving his mouth, he pointed forward. An enormous dragon of fire suddenly appeared and swept toward Xia Yunzhao! At the same time, the fingers of the iron claw spread open, and the claw itself flew through the air toward him! The two attacks arrived simultaneously. Even if he dodged one, he might not be able to evade the other!

Who knew how many cultivators this man had killed with this move? He was frighteningly practiced at it. His battle experience was clearly abundant, and he had immediately recognized Xia Yunzhao’s inexperience.

Boom—! Flames surged skyward and engulfed Xia Yunzhao. Thick smoke billowed everywhere as the iron claw plunged into it, slashed viciously once, and flew back!

Even then, the triangular-eyed cultivator did not relax. His left hand produced a spiked club that carried the same foul stench. He charged forward and smashed it straight into the center of the smoke—

Clang—! The attack was blocked!

The smoke dispersed, revealing a protective barrier surrounding Xia Yunzhao. In his hand, a Protective Talisman slowly turned to ash and scattered.

Xia Yunzhao watched the triangular-eyed cultivator solemnly. This was the strongest enemy he had encountered since transmigrating. Embarrassing as it was to admit, that exchange had left him almost completely unable to fight back. It was not because his actual strength was lacking; he simply had too little experience and could not react quickly enough.

Fortunately, if there was one thing Xia Yunzhao had never lacked, it was the ability to learn.

Without giving the triangular-eyed cultivator time to react, Xia Yunzhao charged forward in the next instant with his Short Blade in hand.

The triangular-eyed cultivator had still been shocked moments ago, but contempt flashed through his eyes when he saw this. He raised the spiked club and stopped the Short Blade’s momentum head-on. A lowest-grade Short Blade naturally could not match the club’s hardness and shattered instantly.

The young cultivator seemed to have lost his head. He threw away the broken Short Blade, shifted from palm to fist, and struck barehanded at the triangular-eyed cultivator, only for the iron claw in his right hand to block him again.

The triangular-eyed cultivator’s contempt deepened. He raised his leg to kick—but Xia Yunzhao used the blocked hand as leverage and performed a beautiful aerial flip, appearing behind him in an instant. His right hand lifted… whoosh.

With an almost inaudible rush of air, the Black Tube at his wrist revealed its dark opening. Four poison needles as fine as ox hair shot out and silently buried themselves in the triangular-eyed cultivator’s back.

The defensive magical treasure on the man’s body activated instantly… yet failed to stop the fine needles.

The feint was practically a copy of Shang Shuangze’s sneak attack on the Jadewater Toad.

The triangular-eyed cultivator suddenly went rigid. “You…”

The Black Tube was only a lowest-grade magical artifact. Piercing the triangular-eyed cultivator’s protective artifact was already a pleasant surprise; Xia Yunzhao certainly could not expect four hair-fine needles alone to kill him.

But Xia Yunzhao had already learned from this man that once an enemy was weakened, you finished the job. He ignored whatever the man wanted to say, turned both hands back into palms, and unleashed the Hundred-Form Palm again. All the spiritual energy in his body surged with it like an overwhelming mountain torrent and slammed solidly into the man’s back!

Xia Yunzhao’s spiritual energy was nothing like that of an ordinary cultivator at the fourth layer of Qi Refining. His foundation was exceptionally solid, and he possessed nearly twice the spiritual energy of others at the same realm!

The defensive magical treasure on the triangular-eyed cultivator shattered with a crack! His entire body flew backward, smashing through two trees before finally hitting the ground. Blood poured from his mouth, and he went still. Even in death, disbelief and shock remained frozen on his face, as though he could not understand how he had died at the hands of some unknown young cultivator.

Xiao Xia let out a long breath and carefully checked again before finally relaxing.

When he turned around, Shang Shuangze stood where he had been, with the bodies of three cultivators lying around him. The tip of his sword pointed toward the ground. He had clearly been standing guard for Xia Yunzhao.

Seeing Xia Yunzhao look over, Shang Shuangze nodded slightly. “You fought well.”

Xia Yunzhao immediately smiled and waved a hand. “Ah, don’t praise me. I still have too little experience. I nearly blew it.”

Shang Shuangze said, “A win is a win.”

Xia Yunzhao thought about it and decided that was true. The fight was over either way, so he clapped his hands. “Come on. Let’s loot the drops!”

Drops?

Shang Shuangze watched him excitedly run over to the triangular-eyed cultivator and search him from top to bottom. Before long, Xia Yunzhao pulled out a storage pouch.

“Let me see what good stu—holy crap, this much?!”

The moment he emptied the contents, they formed a small mountain. Even Xiao Xia was stunned!

Once the shock passed, he began counting. That only shocked him further… There were more than five thousand spirit pearls alone!

Besides those, there were two bottles of Qi-Replenishing Pills, one bottle of Bloodstanching Pills, and three other bottles of pills or medicines he did not recognize, all carrying the same foul smell as the spiked club.

There were also three talismans. One was a Protective Talisman, perfectly replacing the one Xiao Xia had just used. He could tell the other two were offensive talismans, but they were not Flame Talismans… So he raised his voice. “Fellow Daoist Shang, come take a look. What kind of talismans are these? I don’t recognize them.”

Shang Shuangze had stopped moving the moment he saw Xia Yunzhao begin searching the corpse. Only when Xia Yunzhao called him over did he walk across and copy his posture by crouching beside him, his white robes pooling around his feet. “Water-attribute offensive talismans. When activated, each releases three water arrows. Their power is equivalent to one strike from a cultivator at the fourth layer of Qi Refining.”

Xia Yunzhao nodded. That made sense. The triangular-eyed cultivator himself used fire spells, so carrying a water-attribute talisman for emergencies was perfectly reasonable.

Shang Shuangze pointed at the three medicine bottles Xia Yunzhao had failed to identify. “These two contain poison, the same poison applied to his weapons. This bottle contains the antidote.”

Xiao Xia nodded. The triangular-eyed cultivator’s weapons had carried an intense foul odor, so he had guessed long ago that they were poisoned and had not touched them. This merely confirmed it.

“Poison…” he murmured. “I think I saw… Ah, found it.”

Two formulas lay among the pile of supplies. Sure enough, one was the formula for the poison, while the other was the antidote formula. The poison was not particularly high-level, only Level One, and was called Blood-Rot Poison. For cultivators below the Foundation Establishment stage, it could kill as soon as it entered the bloodstream unless they quickly sacrificed cultivation to force the poison back out. Its ingredients included Rot-Horn Kui venom, Snake-Saliva Mushrooms, and several others. Judging from the method alone, it was surprisingly easy to make.

Xiao Xia searched again and indeed found both of those ingredients. He set the two ingredients, two bottles of poison, one bottle of antidote, and both formulas aside together.

Afterward, the two sorted through the remaining materials. Whenever Xia Yunzhao failed to recognize something, he asked Shang Shuangze. If that still did not solve it, he pulled out the Compendium of Liancui Mountain Spirit Items and looked it up on the spot… It took around fifteen minutes to finally finish inventorying everything.

The triangular-eyed cultivator must have held a fairly high position within the Fang family, because his storage pouch contained an abundance of supplies. The Level-One materials included two complete Sharp-Claw Wolf carcasses, more than ten tanned Level-One slaughter-beast hides, thirty jin of spirit rice, two hundred pieces of Ironwood, ten pieces of Huangjing, one hundred stalks of Dew-Condensing Grass, one hundred stalks of Spirit-Gathering Grass, thirty portions of refined slaughter-beast meat, thirty stalks of Aura-Concealing Moss, fifteen stalks of Silver-Thread Grass, ten stalks of Vajra Grass, fifty pieces of Azure Steel Ore, and fifty pieces of Hundred-Forged Iron Ore.

There were even a few Level-Two materials: one section of Ironwood Heartwood, ten Phantom Firefly eggs, and two pieces of Level-Two slaughter-beast bone.

The two bones were visibly incomplete and had obviously been scavenged. If this man truly had the ability to kill a Level-Two slaughter beast, he would not have died at Xia Yunzhao’s hands.

There were also a couple of unusual materials: one Black-Skin Stone Gall and a bowl of Rootless Water.

Neither appeared in the compendium. Strictly speaking, they fell into the realm of common cultivator knowledge, so Shang Shuangze explained them. “A Black-Skin Stone Gall has to be broken open before you know what treasure is inside, so its value cannot be determined beforehand. Rootless Water is similar. Occasionally, spirit water falls from the heavens. If fate allows, one may obtain some. You have to drink it before you know what effect it has.”

Xiao Xia understood instantly. They’re both blind boxes.

Then he pointed at the Silver-Thread Grass with deep regret. “If I’d known there was some here, I wouldn’t have bought any. I spent so much money!”

But on second thought, who could have known this Fang cultivator was such a lunatic that he would order anyone he happened to see killed on sight? If not for this incident, they would already have gone their separate ways by now.

Xia Yunzhao urged Shang Shuangze to bring over the storage pouches from the three cultivators he had killed so they could inventory those too.

Those three had far fewer belongings. Their spirit pearls added together did not even reach two thousand, and their other resources were limited: two bottles of Qi-Replenishing Pills, one bottle of Bloodstanching Pills, one complete Yellow-Eared Civet carcass, three slaughter-beast hides, thirty stalks of Spirit-Gathering Grass, thirty-two Ironbone Flowers, twenty Bloodstanching Leaves, thirty sections of Thousand-Jointed Bamboo, ten pieces of Ironwood Charcoal, five pieces of Star-Pointing Wood, and thirty pieces of Black Iron Ore. There were also assorted lowest-level spirit items that Xia Yunzhao could not even be bothered to sort individually, so he organized them together and placed them in a separate storage pouch.

He even stripped the four men of their shattered protective magical treasures and took their weapons as well, not caring whether they were broken or cracked.

Shang Shuangze wanted none of it. He simply said he had no need for those things and told Xia Yunzhao to keep everything.

Xiao Xia did not argue with him. He merely resolved that he absolutely had to help Shang Shuangze find the final Hundred-Year Resilient Vine needed for that pill recipe.

Just like that, Xiao Xia gained four more storage pouches. The triangular-eyed cultivator’s was the largest, while the other three were much smaller. Unfortunately, all four bore the Fang family emblem and could not be used openly. He could only keep them at home and use them like cabinets… Whatever. They were free. Any use was a good use.

Xia Yunzhao sorted everything by category. That was simply his habit: the moment something came into his hands, he organized it immediately so he would not forget about it several days later and create even more work for himself. He was exactly the sort of person who came home from a trip and unpacked his luggage before resting.

Only then did he stand up. “Where’s the Moonlight Cicada they found earlier?”

Shang Shuangze pointed.

A huge tree stood nearby, so broad that four or five people joining hands could barely encircle it. Fang family guards lay scattered beneath it in every direction. None of them were dead; they were simply unconscious.

There were forty or fifty guards altogether, none of them cultivators. Neither Xia Yunzhao nor Shang Shuangze had the heart to kill so many ordinary people at once, and there was no need. Shang Shuangze said, “I stunned them with spiritual power. They will not remember what happened tonight.”

Xia Yunzhao nodded and continued looking up into the tree. The sky was overcast tonight and the moonlight weak. He searched for a long while before finally spotting a tiny, wood-carving-like insect against the trunk. It did not move at all. If moonlight had not faintly reflected from its body, someone standing beneath the tree might never have noticed it.

Legend said Moonlight Cicadas absorbed the power of moonlight. After continuously absorbing it for a hundred years, they shed their skin and transform.

Xia Yunzhao leapt upward and easily reached the tree more than twenty meters above the ground. He caught the motionless little insect and came back down happily. “My brother seems to be looking for this. I’ll take it back and ask him.”

The two arranged another time to meet and said goodbye for the night.

Xiao Xia raced back to the lakeside camp. Along the way, he encountered other groups led by Fang family cultivators as well, but quietly avoided every one.

It was already deep into the night, and the lakeside camp had fallen silent except for the glow of the bonfires. The lookouts were accustomed to Xia Yunzhao returning in the middle of the night every day. They gave a few bird calls and let him through.

Xiao Xia landed lightly, made a quick circuit, and then crept up to Xing Wenyu’s wooden shelter, leaning close to listen—

A laughing voice came from inside. “Why are you skulking around? Come in.”

Xia Yunzhao grinned and walked inside. “Brother Xing, guess what good thing I brought you today?”

Xing Wenyu poured him a cup of hot tea and asked gently, “What good thing?”

Only when Xia Yunzhao moved closer did he smell the heavy scent of medicine. Startled, he asked, “Brother Xing, are you hurt?”

Xing Wenyu shook his head. “No. It’s only an old ailment. There’s no need to worry.”

“How can you not worry about an old ailment? The older the problem, the more attention you need to pay to it, or you’ll suffer when you get old!” Xiao Xia lectured in an old-fashioned tone, sounding rather like his own grandparents when they used to lecture him.

After finishing, he rummaged through his storage pouch and handed over a bottle of Lingwei Pills. “Ordinary people can take these too. Maybe they’ll help ease it.”

Xing Wenyu accepted them with a smile and did not ask where the pills had come from. Instead, he asked, “You were out all day today?”

“Yeah! I was with my friend! His name is Shang Shuangze…” Xia Yunzhao immediately began chattering, recounting everything that had happened that day in minute detail, like a student coming home from school and telling his family about his day… Only at the very end did he stretch out his hand. “Look. This is what I brought back.”

On his fair palm lay a tiny insect shaped like a wooden carving, its abdomen slightly curved and completely motionless.

For that instant, Xing Wenyu thought his eyes were deceiving him—or that he was dreaming.

“Brother Xing?” the young man called uncertainly.

Xing Wenyu abruptly came back to himself. “Th-thank you.”

He closed his eyes hard for a moment, then said solemnly, “Xiao Xia, thank you for bringing me the Moonlight Cicada.”

Xia Yunzhao smiled. “Brother Xing, why are you being so polite with me? When I first arrived, I didn’t understand anything. You taught me so much. I want to help you too.”

Xing Wenyu relaxed and smiled. “You’ve already helped me more than enough. You saved my life before, and you gave me the Azure Cloud Shoes and pills. They’ve all been very useful.”

“Once you start counting like that, it gets boring.” Xiao Xia waved his hand. “How can friends calculate every gain and loss? You’d need a whole notebook and still never finish.” He stuffed the Moonlight Cicada into Xing Wenyu’s hand. “Hurry and use it to treat the illness!”

Xing Wenyu considered for a moment. “I do have a friend waiting for a Moonlight Cicada to save his life. The reason I came to Liancui Mountain was to find medicine for him. Now that I’ve found it, I’ll need to leave for a while.”

Xia Yunzhao froze. “…Oh.” I thought Brother Xing needed it himself. So it was for a friend? Then he asked, “Have you found everything you need?”

Xing Wenyu’s expression softened again. “Yes. The Moonlight Cicada was the last thing missing.” He continued, “Once I’ve settled matters on his side, I’ll come back to find you. Before I leave, let me tell you about Qingxi City.”

He organized his thoughts and explained carefully. “Qingxi City is a small city. Only a few thousand cultivators live here permanently, though many pass through each day. The highest cultivation among them is Foundation Establishment, and there are very few Foundation Establishment cultivators. Most are at Qi Refining. Cultivators are not allowed to fight inside the city. Now that you’ve entered Qi Refining yourself, you don’t need to be afraid of them…”

“Of Qingxi City’s three cultivator families, the Fang family ancestor is at late Foundation Establishment, though he has not appeared for a very long time. The current Fang family head, Fang Wenyuan, is at mid Foundation Establishment and cultivates both medicine and spell arts…”

“The Liu family focuses primarily on spell arts. Although they are nominally an independent family, they are actually vassals of the Fang family and are nothing to fear…”

“The Ji family is more unusual. Their hereditary cultivation lineage is the Yellow Springs Art. I’ve heard they once produced a Golden Core cultivator, but the family has since declined. Although the Ji family also follows the Fang family’s lead, in truth they mostly go along with the crowd and are not especially committed. Supposedly, cultivating the Yellow Springs Art makes a person colder and more withdrawn, which probably contributes…”

For the entire night, Xing Wenyu poured everything he had learned about Qingxi City over the past several years straight into Xiao Xia’s head.

Only when the first faint light of dawn appeared did he finally stop. He moistened his throat and asked gently, “Did you understand everything? Was there anything you didn’t remember?”

Xia Yunzhao looked at the fine beads of sweat on his forehead, then at how much paler his lips had become, and smiled. “I listened very carefully. I remember all of it.”

Xing Wenyu relaxed slightly. “Good.” Then he took several things from his bag and handed them over. “If you get into trouble, don’t be afraid. Take this jade pendant to a carpenter’s shop on the western side of Qingxi City and ask the owner there for help. Also, I can see that you’ve developed your own approach to cultivation, but your movement skills are still somewhat lacking. Take this leg art and practice it.”

Xiao Xia accepted everything and tucked it into his robes.

Xing Wenyu stroked his head. “All right. Go back and rest. Be more careful whenever you go out from now on.”

Xiao Xia continued nodding until Xing Wenyu finally urged him back to his own little shelter.

He slept very well that night.

When he woke, daylight filled the outside world, and a steady rustle-rustle sound could be heard.

He poked his head out. It was raining.

The clouds had held themselves back for days, and even now Heaven showed restraint. Only a fine, dense drizzle was falling.

Xiao Xia tucked himself back beneath the blankets. Xiao Qing was curled up asleep on the other side.

After lying there for a while, he suddenly remembered something. Wasn’t this shelter built out of dry grass? How is it not leaking?

He dressed and went outside to look. Thick leaves had been layered across the roof, one beside another, leaving no gap for the rain to enter.

Looking around, he saw that it was not only his shelter. Most had already been covered. Only a few empty ones remained exposed. Apparently, when the people in camp saw that he had not gotten up, they had been reluctant to wake him and simply finished his roof for him.

Seeing several strong young men heading out carrying large leaves, Xiao Xia rolled up his sleeves and shouted, “Wait for me!”

They worked for another hour. By the end, everyone was soaked through. Granny had prepared herbal soup early and dragged them over one by one to drink a bowl. It was so bitter that every face twisted, after which they each returned to their shelters to change clothes.

Xiao Xia glanced toward Xing Wenyu’s shelter. Sure enough, it was already empty.

Then he returned to his own.

Xiao Qing was awake now and hopping angrily all over the bed.

Anyone else would have had no idea what an angry bronze pot bouncing around meant, but Xia Yunzhao knew Xiao Qing too well. He understood instantly. “What does this have to do with me? You went to sleep the moment we came in last night. Was I supposed to wake you up?”

Xiao Qing hopped twice more.

Xia Yunzhao pressed down on its head. “Enough. Keep that up and you’ll collapse my bed. Brother Xing has been searching for the Moonlight Cicada for so long and you still wanted to fight him for it? Besides, we got so many good things yesterday. There’s plenty for you to eat!”

Xiao Qing immediately went still, then ingratiatingly hopped over and rubbed against him.

Xia Yunzhao was not lying. Yesterday, they had taken many things from the triangular-eyed cultivator and the others. Quite a few were unsuitable for his own use and could not safely be sold, making them perfect food for Xiao Qing.

First were their weapons. The two cultivators at the first layer of Qi Refining were nothing special. Both carried Short Blades that looked as though they had been bought from the same place as Xia Yunzhao’s own.

The cultivator at the third layer of Qi Refining had carried an Azure Steel Sword, though its blade was cracked.

The triangular-eyed cultivator had used an iron claw and a spiked club. Both were intact and fairly high-grade, especially the spiked club, whose quality was already approaching Level Two. The man had clearly refined it many times and invested plenty of good materials into it.

Then there were the four cultivators’ protective equipment: one set of leather armor, two sets of vine armor, while the triangular-eyed cultivator’s protective magical treasure was a small mirror. With their owners dead, the protective magical artifacts had naturally shattered. Only white light continued slowly leaking away.

Xia Yunzhao thought for a moment and kept the spiked club for himself. His Hundred-Form Palm did not restrict the weapon used, so naturally he could wield a spiked club too. His only hesitation came from its distinctive appearance. If someone from the Fang family saw it, there might be trouble. But that was hardly a problem. The club was also coated in poison and was a genuine killing weapon. He would never bring it out casually. By the time he did use it, the situation would already be life or death; if someone saw it then, so be it.

He threw all the remaining magical artifacts into Xiao Qing’s enormous round belly, together with his own shattered Short Blade.

The bronze alchemy furnace immediately emitted white light. It did not care that the weapons were broken and battered. As long as something contained spiritual energy, Xiao Qing liked it. Its bronze lid went rattle-rattle as it happily chewed its snacks.

The progress bar appeared and began steadily rising.

While he waited, Xiao Xia took out the two things Brother Xing had given him the night before. The jade pendant was crystal clear and did not look like ordinary jade, yet it contained no spiritual energy, which was rather strange. A character had been carved into it… “Huh?” Xiao Xia leaned closer. He had only glanced at it last night and assumed the character was part of Brother Xing’s name, but now that he looked carefully, it was not. Instead, it seemed to be a variant form of the character “silk”?

He did not know why, but since Brother Xing had given it to him as a token, he naturally stored it carefully.

Then he examined the thin booklet. It was the movement technique Brother Xing had given him—the Flowing Cloud Leg Art.

Looking more closely, Xiao Xia was stunned. This is actually a Yellow-grade technique!

His Qi-Guiding Origin-Connecting Art was only a Yellow-grade cultivation method, yet Brother Xing had casually handed him a Yellow-grade leg art too?
