Hi everyone!
We have an important maintenance update regarding The Succubus Takes His Job Very Seriously (ST).
ST Chapter Endpoint Repairs Completed
We discovered that a small number of longer JJWXC chapters in our original working captures were cut off before the actual chapter endpoint. Because our earlier proofreading was checked against those same captures, the translations appeared complete even though the source files themselves were missing their final sections.
We have now rechecked the posted ST chapters against the current official text and additional source references, identified the affected chapters, and restored all missing material.
For transparency, whenever material was restored to an already-published chapter, we placed a standalone (Continuation) label at the exact point where the original posted version had ended. Anything beneath that label is the material recovered during this audit.
Affected Chapters Now Fixed
- Chapter 20: The Succubus Uses a Little Trick
- Chapter 24: Throwing Everyone into Confusion
- Chapter 26: Planning to Run Away with Lan Xi
- Chapter 27: Facial Recognition Failed
- Chapter 31: Trying Something New
- Chapter 39: Another Upgrade
- Chapter 47: The Succubus Goes Missing
All affected posted chapters have now been corrected.
We also checked our other projects that use JJWXC source material and, thankfully, did not find the same truncation issue elsewhere. At this time, the problem appears to have affected ST only.
Going forward, we have added an additional endpoint-verification step to our workflow. Before a chapter is considered complete, we will verify its final section against the actual source endpoint rather than relying solely on the captured working copy.
A big thank-you to the reader who reported this to us. Without that heads-up, this particular source-capture issue could have stayed hidden much longer. 💛
So if you revisit one of the chapters above and see (Continuation), that is simply our marker showing exactly where the recovered material begins.
Apparently JJWXC taught us a new lesson: “complete source file” and “the file looks complete” are two very different things. 🥲
Thank you, as always, for reading and supporting Futile Devices. ❤️
