ST – Chapter 11: The Succubus’s New Opportunity

“What about him?”

“He looks different from the last time I saw him.” After murmuring that, Cheng Yiran realized he had said something completely useless and hurriedly added, “Uh… his hair looks like a dog chewed it. I thought he’d stopped coming to school. I haven’t seen him for almost half a month…”

Fu Hui was actually extremely impatient with listening to these childish squabbles and entanglements.

Cheng Yiran was already an adult. There was no need for him to report every little thing to Fu Hui like a child coming home after his first day of kindergarten.

Fu Hui made no comment whatsoever on what Wen Lan looked like. He simply asked directly, “Do you want him out of the university?”

Cheng Yiran hesitated. “I…”

“Forget it. I think he’s probably learned enough of a lesson already. If we actually get him expelled too, I’m afraid people will gossip about you, Brother.”

“No one would dare gossip,” Fu Hui said calmly, merely stating a fact.

For a moment, Cheng Yiran had no idea how to respond. Dryly, he managed, “We can call it giving him a chance to turn over a new leaf. Maybe he really will learn how to behave.”

Fu Hui merely said, “Mm. It’s your business. Your opinion is what matters. Go to class.”

Fu Hui ended the call.

Holding his phone, Cheng Yiran felt faintly melancholy.

Fu Hui had always been like this. Ever since Cheng Yiran had been brought into the Fu family last year, Fu Hui had given him an enormous amount of autonomy.

And somehow, that much freedom left Cheng Yiran feeling strangely unanchored.

He turned to look at the other side again.

Wen Lan was being held firmly by his brother, as though the man was afraid that the moment he loosened his grip, Wen Lan would run away.

That’s his brother, right?

Cheng Yiran still remembered that day at the estate, when this man had rushed in to plead for Wen Lan.

Lan Xi and Wen Ming were currently dragging and tugging at each other toward the campus entrance, one refusing to cooperate and the other visibly irritable.

Only when they passed Cheng Yiran did Wen Ming say, “Don’t worry. Wen Lan won’t cause trouble with you anymore. From now on, he’ll stay out of your way.”

Cheng Yiran knew it was all because of Fu Hui.

He felt a faint sense of reflected pride, but it still couldn’t dispel his melancholy.

For reasons even he couldn’t explain, after Wen Ming had taken Lan Xi ten or so meters away, Cheng Yiran couldn’t resist quietly following them.

Wen Ming had already investigated everything.

The financially disadvantaged student Wen Lan and Cheng Yiran had fought over was named Fang Nianqing. He was in the Chemistry Department and had received a full scholarship in his very first year.

No one at the university knew what Wen Lan had seen in him either. In any case, one day Wen Lan had cornered Fang Nianqing in the school cafeteria and snapped, “I’m offering you money. Don’t reject the easy way and force me to make things unpleasant.”

Cheng Yiran had happened to be nearby and couldn’t resist saying a couple of things.

Wen Lan felt humiliated and immediately started cursing Cheng Yiran too.

After that, the whole thing turned into a war between Wen Lan and Cheng Yiran.

While inwardly cursing Wen Lan for being an absolute bastard, Wen Ming led Lan Xi to the student apartment where Fang Nianqing lived.

Before long, Fang Nianqing appeared.

He was dressed simply in a T-shirt and trousers, with a red headband around his forehead. His lips were red, his teeth white, and he looked as fresh and clear as mountain spring water.

…But he was still a man!

Wen Ming frowned and immediately looked at Lan Xi’s reaction.

Lan Xi’s eyes lit up.

There was a golden aura around this person too.

Wen Ming’s face instantly darkened. He asked, “Do you want to keep drinking medicine?”

Lan Xi spared enough attention to answer, “No.”

“Then stop pestering this person.”

Lan Xi pretended not to hear him.

“Did you hear me?”

“…”

With a dark expression, Wen Ming grabbed Lan Xi and directly blocked Fang Nianqing’s path.

Fang Nianqing glanced at them without even looking inclined to speak, then simply walked around them.

Wen Ming called after him in a low voice, “Hey, I brought him here to apologize to you.”

Without turning his head, Fang Nianqing said, “No need.”

Wen Ming continued, “I’m his brother. His family spoiled him too much growing up…”

Fang Nianqing thought, I don’t even need to keep listening. Next comes the usual ‘please be understanding with him’ routine.

Wen Ming continued, “If he dares bother you again, hit him. Don’t worry, our family absolutely won’t come after you for it. We’ll thank you for helping discipline him.”

Fang Nianqing stopped walking.

“…”

Only then did he turn around and seriously examine the brothers in front of him.

Fang Nianqing hadn’t seen Wen Lan for quite a while.

Now that he looked at him, he realized Wen Lan was very different from before… The arrogant swagger was gone, along with those irritating little expressions that used to appear whenever he lost his temper.

His hair was a complete mess, making him look unusually bedraggled.

He looked like some small animal that had rolled around in the grass.

…He’s pretending, isn’t he?

As Fang Nianqing thought that, he met Lan Xi’s innocent eyes.

Under the sunlight, those eyes even seemed to shimmer with a jewel-like brilliance.

Fang Nianqing looked away and asked Wen Ming, “You mean that?”

Wen Ming nodded.

Fang Nianqing said, “Fine. Don’t regret it.”

Wen Ming thought, What would I regret?

Wen Lan had already driven the two brothers half insane. It would do him good to go outside and let society teach him a hard lesson for once.

He said firmly, “I won’t.”

With that, he began dragging Lan Xi away while reaching up to fiddle with his hair. “Come on. I’ll take you to fix this haircut that looks like a dog chewed it.”

Lan Xi slapped his hand away with a smack and said, “Go… school.”

Wen Ming laughed. “Now you want to go to school? Fine, fine. Go. If you’re not embarrassed walking around with your head looking like a mangled chestnut, why should I worry about it?”

After saying that, Wen Ming really did let go and leave him alone.

That was what he said, anyway.

After walking a good distance away, he still couldn’t resist turning around for another look.

Lan Xi was already nowhere to be seen.

Wen Ming pressed his lips together, suddenly feeling a little uncertain. “His head is clear one moment and muddled the next. He won’t get himself into trouble, will he?”

Assistant Yu immediately reassured him, “Isn’t letting Young Master learn a lesson exactly what you wanted?”

“…Mm.”

After Wen Ming left, Lan Xi looked around at all the tall buildings.

Only then did he realize that he had no idea where he was supposed to go to study.

Forget it, then.

Lan Xi openly followed Fang Nianqing.

Cheng Yiran, who was secretly following behind them, was stunned.

Wen Lan really is incorrigible! His brother literally just warned him, and the moment his brother turns around, he latches onto Fang Nianqing again!

Cheng Yiran decided to keep following.

That way, when he went home tonight, he would have something to tell Fu Hui.

He would tell him all about Wen Lan’s shamelessness.

Fang Nianqing hadn’t expected Wen Lan to be this thick-skinned either.

He stopped, turned around, and asked, “Didn’t you hear what your brother just said?”

Lan Xi nodded to show that he had heard.

But those words had been meant for Wen Lan.

What did they have to do with a succubus from Hell like me?

Fang Nianqing was a little speechless.

He could only ask, “Then why are you still following me? What do you want?”

Fang Nianqing expected him to say something arrogant again.

Lan Xi moved his lips. “Don’t… want… go… home.”

Fang Nianqing: ?

Why does he talk like a robot?

Lan Xi had already made up his mind not to go back and drink that medicine.

So he chose himself a new target.

As long as a succubus switched targets fast enough, nothing could ever become a problem.

“Go… with… you,” Lan Xi added.

“…” Fang Nianqing raised his eyelids mockingly. “You mean you like me so much that you want to come home with me?”

That was more or less what he meant.

Lan Xi smacked his lips and nodded.

Fang Nianqing said, “Sure.”

He had vaguely heard from classmates before about this Young Master Wen’s family background.

It wasn’t as though Fang Nianqing had been completely unaffected by Wen Lan’s humiliation.

He simply understood very clearly that someone like him couldn’t afford to go up against rich people.

But now things were different.

Fang Nianqing thought mockingly:

Then I’ll let him find out what it means to cry to heaven and earth and have no one answer.
