DL – Chapter 73: Beauty leads people astray; starting today, I plan to abstain from meat.

Chen Yixin’s expression was serious, his tone stern, his accusations entirely justified and well-supported. As he spoke, he walked step by step toward Wenren Li. Rising onto his toes, he sniffed lightly at Wenren Li’s neck, his brows faintly knitting together. He truly disliked those lingering auras.

But who told him he liked Wenren Li—liked him desperately? He believed those auras should not be enough to stop them from being close.

He reached out and hooked a finger through the jade clasp at Wenren Li’s waistbelt, tugging him toward the bed. After taking two steps, he turned back and glared at him.

“You’re not allowed to resist. And you’re not allowed to say no…”

Clear helplessness surfaced in Wenren Li’s eyes. His gaze dropped toward Chen Yixin’s other hand, the one slightly clenched at his side. He sighed inwardly and followed at an unhurried pace.

The two sat together on the bed. Chen Yixin turned sideways, still wearing that sternly serious expression, yet his hands stripped Wenren Li’s robes with astonishing speed, his face maintaining that same utterly justified look throughout.

His delicate throat bobbed softly. He shoved Wenren Li once—failing to push him over—then simply threw himself against him and kissed him fervently instead. He refused to believe that after all this, Wenren Li could still remain unmoved.

Wenren Li indeed could not endure for long. His breathing gradually deepened, the aura around him slipping slightly out of control, the aura of divine punishment growing more obvious. Chen Yixin trembled faintly, looking at Wenren Li with a trace of grievance.

The dangerous aura emanating from Wenren Li abruptly pulled him out of his aroused state, leaving him momentarily unsure how to react. But immediately afterward, Wenren Li’s kiss descended.

“Since A-Rong is willing, there is no reason to stop halfway.”

Even if Chen Yixin had become somewhat hesitant because of Wenren Li’s unstable aura, there was no stopping them now.

“Who said I wanted to stop halfway… I’m willing. Extremely willing.”

As Chen Yixin spoke, he bit lightly into the skin at Wenren Li’s neck. Unable to withstand Chen Yixin’s tormenting provocations, Wenren Li inhaled deeply and slowly lifted one of his legs.

“Mnh… ah… I can’t anymore…”

Clearly, this intimacy differed from all their previous dual cultivation sessions and bridal nights. Under the aura of divine punishment, the divine power within Chen Yixin became faint and unstable, heavily suppressed. In the past, any discomfort would vanish instantly, but this time it was far less effective. Yet the more that happened, the more intense the stimulation became.

For the first time in his life, Chen Yixin—who had never once worried over matters of the bed—deeply understood what it meant to dig a pit for oneself and jump into it personally.

Wenren Li was unlike his usual self as well. His eyes reddened slightly, sweat rolling continuously down his forehead. He noticed Chen Yixin’s condition. Instinctively, he wanted to give him time to recover, but in practice, he found himself unable to control his actions.

“Be good. After this time, it’ll be fine…”

Wenren Li lowered his head and kissed Chen Yixin’s lips while continuing to keep him trapped within his arms, allowing no retreat.

Chen Yixin moved his weak, aching legs slightly, widening his eyes as he glared over.

“You liar! How many times have you said ‘just this last time’? But it’s still not over!”

“I could have continued holding back. It was A-Rong who refused to let me.”

Even Wenren Li himself could not predict things spiraling this far out of control. His hand brushed lightly over the places that had unintentionally reddened and bruised beneath their repeated collisions.

“Mnh… ah…”

Chen Yixin, who had still been able to voice proper complaints moments earlier, completely lost focus. His legs, which had only just regained a little strength, once more wrapped themselves around Wenren Li’s waist. Their current tangled, unmanageable state—Chen Yixin bore more than half the responsibility for it.

The two of them shut themselves inside the room for seven days and seven nights without emerging. Aside from a select few, everyone else could more or less guess exactly what Chen Yixin and Wenren Li were doing.

And during those seven days, even when the Immortal Dao Allied Army launched surprise attacks, no one dared disturb the two of them.

In fact, the places influenced by their auras were thoroughly put to use by Qiu Yi and An Cheng. Vast forests did not spring up this time, but the immortal herbs and divine medicines they planted still grew with unusual vigor.

Most notably, outside Chen Yixin’s military tent, cluster after cluster of mutated Phoenix Flowers bloomed magnificently. At night, the faint spiritual radiance they emitted transformed entirely into pale silver lightning. Even Qiu Yi and An Cheng did not dare study these mutated Phoenix Flowers too closely.

But without question, the mutation of the Phoenix Flowers was inseparable from the changes in Chen Yixin and Wenren Li’s spiritual power.

As usual, Qiu Yi and An Cheng came to inspect the area near the tent. Before they could leave, Chen Yixin emerged from inside, one hand supporting his lower back. His expression could not quite be called good or bad, but the aura Wenren Li had left on him was far too dense. Instinctively, the two men stepped backward.

Chen Yixin swept a glance over them and removed his hand from his waist, where the lingering discomfort had yet to completely fade.

“Tell Ze Fang and Black Feather to gather everyone at the strategy tent. This pace is too slow.”

Over these past seven days alone, he had helped Wenren Li absorb a large portion of the broken wood remnant. Wasting time fighting the righteous path now felt somewhat wasteful. What had originally been considered acceptable progress now felt far too slow.

Qiu Yi and An Cheng exchanged glances before bowing slightly.

“Yes.”

They departed to summon the demon guards. Chen Yixin rubbed his waist again and returned inside the tent. Wenren Li had not gone back to the Three Lives Well like before. Instead, he remained seated cross-legged on the bed cultivating.

When Chen Yixin returned, Wenren Li opened his eyes.

“Come here.”

As Wenren Li spoke, a strand of spiritual power wrapped around Chen Yixin’s waist and pulled him directly into his arms.

“What is A-Rong hesitating about?”

If he had not used spiritual power to pull him over, Chen Yixin would probably have glanced at him once before leaving again.

“Beauty leads people astray; starting today, I plan to abstain from meat.”

Even as Chen Yixin said this, he still reached out and fondly groped Wenren Li’s half-exposed chest.

“A-Li is not allowed to seduce me.”

Whether to eat meat or vegetables was entirely decided by Chen Yixin himself. Wenren Li’s brows lifted slightly. He pressed down the hand Chen Yixin was trying to withdraw and turned sideways. Before his hand could reach Chen Yixin’s waist, however, the previously obedient man vanished—only to reappear at the entrance of the tent.

Chen Yixin lifted his chin slightly.

“A-Li can stay here obediently and wait for me to come back. If I’m in a good mood, I’ll consider whether to satisfy A-Li.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he disappeared from the tent.

Compared to seven days ago, he was even less capable of enduring Wenren Li’s aura now. But it was no longer because the danger made him uncomfortable. Rather, after fermenting over seven full days, the moment he encountered Wenren Li’s spiritual power, his legs went weak and his body immediately reacted with desire.

But this was not something he felt particularly comfortable telling Wenren Li directly.

As he stepped out of the tent, all the soreness and weakness in his waist and legs returned at once. He resisted the urge to support his lower back and continued walking toward the strategy tent with his chin slightly raised. By then, Ze Fang and the other generals and vice-generals had already gathered.

The overwhelming aura of Wenren Li lingering on Chen Yixin caused everyone to instinctively lower their heads, not daring to look at him too much. The atmosphere of the meeting became noticeably more restrained than usual.

Naturally, Chen Yixin noticed. Yet after a brief consideration, he still chose not to erase Wenren Li’s aura from himself. Just as he had told Wenren Li before, he too needed to gradually adapt to Wenren Li’s aura.

This was not merely related to their intimacy—it would also greatly assist him in using soul-gathering techniques. At the same time, he did not mind letting everyone know how close he and Wenren Li were.

“I want the Northern Campaign to end within three years.”

As soon as Chen Yixin sat down, he spoke calmly yet unquestionably. Every commander present looked up in shock. Three years… Originally, Chen Yixin’s plan with them had been to spend five to ten years resolving the Northern Domain’s immortal factions.

Now he intended to shorten that to three years. No—not even that. The Northern Campaign had already lasted ten months. In other words, they only had two years and two months left to achieve Chen Yixin’s objective.

After a pause, Chen Yixin continued.

“Starting today, Ze Fang and Black Feather no longer need to remain behind. All of you will move to the front lines. Soul Transformation late-stage is by no means your limit.”

The demon armies needed tempering, but in Chen Yixin’s eyes, these Soul Transformation cultivators needed tempering just as much. The higher one’s cultivation became, the fewer opportunities there were for genuine battle. Taixuan simply lacked places suitable for these Soul Transformation cultivators to sharpen themselves.

Each sentence Chen Yixin spoke shocked them more than the last. Their eyes widened as they struggled to process the meaning behind his words.

Chen Yixin did not rush to continue deploying orders. He gave them time to absorb it all.

This strategy meeting lasted from dawn until late afternoon. Only then did Ze Fang and the others gradually disperse. Chen Yixin rubbed his waist and picked up another jade slip from the table, continuing to deal with military affairs.

An Cheng arrived carrying medicinal soup brewed by Qiu Yi. His expression abruptly shifted, and he obediently lifted the tray higher—because Wenren Li had taken it from him. Wenren Li had waited inside the tent for Chen Yixin nearly the entire day. Seeing he still had not returned, he came personally to find him.

Chen Yixin himself was covered in Wenren Li’s aura, but after seven days, Wenren Li had finally learned to restrain his own aura. Carrying the medicinal soup inside, he made almost no sound at all.

“An Cheng, tell Qiu Yi to stop making this stuff for me. It tastes awful.”

Without even lifting his gaze, Chen Yixin spoke while setting aside one jade slip and picking up another. Remembering something, he added another warning.

“And don’t you dare tell A-Li about this either…”

Yet despite those words, the medicinal soup still landed on the corner of the desk. Chen Yixin finally lifted his gaze, first spotting a figure dressed in black robes. His expression paused slightly before he turned sideways.

“A-Li, you came.”

As he spoke, Chen Yixin shifted to make room. Wenren Li sat beside him, then immediately picked up the soup again and fed him a spoonful.

Chen Yixin glanced at Wenren Li before obediently opening his lips and drinking it.

Only after the entire bowl had been finished did Wenren Li place it back on the tray. Chen Yixin leaned lazily against him, finding the most comfortable position possible before continuing to read the jade slips.

“A-Li’s spiritual power won’t hurt me. Qiu Yi is just fussing. Why is A-Li making such a big deal over it too…”

“Even if it causes no true harm, it still makes A-Rong uncomfortable.”

Wenren Li answered while also picking up one of the jade slips Chen Yixin had sorted aside. The reports detailed sightings of Otherworldly Demons throughout the Northern Domain.

Hearing this, Chen Yixin lowered the jade slip in his hand. A point of blue light appeared at his fingertip as he pressed it against Wenren Li’s brow.

“Uncomfortable?”

“It won’t, right? And neither will I.”

After saying that, Chen Yixin swiftly leaned up to kiss the exact spot he had touched before settling half-reclined in Wenren Li’s arms once more, continuing to read the jade slips.

Whether something felt uncomfortable or not, no one else had the right to decide for him. Only he himself could decide that.
