SB – Chapter 9: I Don’t Want Money

Xue Bao Tian was pressed hard against the door, the man in front of him towering like a mountain.

“Zhang Chi, is your brain just there to add height? Is this what you mean by a late-night snack? Can you put a mosaic over whatever’s in your head?”

His words fell, but no one paid attention. Trapped in the narrow space, he was being nipped at along the skin of his neck. The scorching breath traveled downward, stopping at his collarbone. Rubbing, brushing, faint lingering kisses… Xue Bao Tian’s body bristled, his back stiffening, reacting like a startled cat.

A sharp pain hit his collarbone. Xue Bao Tian sucked in a cold breath. Based on his limited experience, biting the collarbone meant this man was already at the point of no return.

“Brother Chi, wait!” Xue Bao Tian twisted his body. “Can I repay you? How much do you want?”

Perhaps bending over was uncomfortable, Zhang Chi lifted his head from Xue Bao Tian’s collar. He braced his arms against the door, trapping the struggling Xue Bao Tian in his embrace.

“Damn…” The disadvantaged man cursed internally. At twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, he was now being pinned against the wall by another man—and a brat who’d barely grown up at that!

The next moment, Zhang Chi grabbed his chin, forcing him to raise his head, meeting the man’s deep eyes filled with heat.

“Was I handsome just now?” The man’s voice was low and hoarse, but to Xue Bao Tian, it sounded like a cat in heat.

“Handsome, incredibly handsome!”

“Was I impressive?”

“Impressive! The most impressive in the world! If you let me go now, you can say you’re Superman, and I’ll even help you wear your underwear outside!”

“Then can you kiss me once?” Zhang Chi’s lips brushed lightly against Xue Bao Tian’s cheek. “Like you did to that woman just now—kiss me voluntarily.”

Xue Bao Tian realized again that Zhang Chi had a bad habit: once desire took over, he would block out everything, immersing himself entirely. Damn, all his brains seemed to be down there.

Looking at the handsome face so close to him, Xue Bao Tian felt he couldn’t escape without sacrificing something: “Just one kiss? After that you’ll let me go?”

“Mm.”

Xue Bao Tian took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself, closed his eyes, and quickly kissed Zhang Chi’s face.

Zhang Chi paused, then commented: “No sound.”

“Damn, do you want a loud one?” Xue Bao Tian wrapped his arm around Zhang Chi’s neck and, venting his frustration, gave him a loud smack.

“Is that enough?” Before he finished speaking, Xue Bao Tian felt the skin under his hand heat up. He looked up in panic and saw the dark fire burning in Zhang Chi’s eyes.

His legs were lifted by the man’s strong hands. His feet left the ground, clamping around the man’s waist.

Everything felt too clear. Though it was already autumn, their clothing was still thin. Even with an added coat, it couldn’t block the solid contact.

Xue Bao Tian’s words stumbled: “Brother Chi… didn’t you say just one kiss?”

“Two hundred yuan, I also said—a man’s words in bed can’t be trusted.”

Zhang Chi usually acted with reason and rules, but at this moment, he was completely unreasonable. Xue Bao Tian felt a headache coming on, instinctively begging: “Brother, you forgot, I was injured by you. I’m dizzy now, maybe I have a concussion. Let’s go to the hospital first.”

Zhang Chi carried him a few steps and pressed him against the corner wall: “I know my strength. Your head just has a small cut, not serious. The bleeding has already stopped.”

“We still need to go to the hospital!”

“We’ll go after we’re done.” Finding him too talkative, Zhang Chi asked directly: “Do you prefer standing or lying down?”

Xue Bao Tian exploded in anger: “I fucking prefer you kneeling!”

“Then standing. I haven’t tried that yet.”

“Brother Chi, please… there’s no condom, let’s do it next time.”

“I’ve only done it with you. I’m clean.”

“We haven’t seen each other for over two months! Like hell I’d believe you!”

“Trust me. Shh… Two hundred yuan, be good.”

“Shut the hell up!”

When Xue Bao Tian appeared in public again, it was already the early hours of the morning. His legs were somewhat unsteady, and he occasionally stumbled as he walked.

Cursing under his breath, Xue Bao Tian held his waist and bent down to get into his car.

Pressing the start button, the flashy reverse lights lit up. With a roar, the car rapidly backed up, then suddenly stopped.

The car window rolled down. Xue Bao Tian rested his arm on the car door, looking at Zhang Chi by the roadside, clearly annoyed.

“I just fucking realized—since you’re so damn capable, why the hell did you smash a bottle on my head at the start?”

Zhang Chi, no longer as imposing as he had been in the private room, was checking bus information on his phone. Hearing the question, he turned off the screen and answered seriously.

“I promised them, so I couldn’t go back on it. I could only help you as much as possible within those limits.”

Xue Bao Tian showed a sharp smile: “So if you unknowingly took a job to beat up your own mother, would you still smash a bottle on her first?”

Zhang Chi sighed, walked slowly to the car, bent down, and rested his elbow on the door, closing the distance between them.

“I was a bit impatient earlier, didn’t control my strength well. Sorry.”

“Fuck off,” Xue Bao Tian pushed his face away. “Less apologizing, more action. Can you do something practical?”

“You say.”

“Follow me, be my bodyguard. What do you think?”

Zhang Chi froze, staring at him for a while. “I still have work at the construction site. Tonight I just came out for a side job.”

“Dump the dirty thoughts in your head and do something legitimate, alright? How much can you make at the construction site? Working your ass off for a month isn’t even enough for me to open a bottle of wine. Don’t worry, I won’t treat you badly.”

Zhang Chi’s gaze swept over the red marks on Xue Bao Tian’s neck. “How long?”

Xue Bao Tian subconsciously shrank his neck, wary. “One year, with a one-month probation.”

“One year is too long. Three months is fine.”

Xue Bao Tian thought about his current tense relationships and had no choice but to agree. “Fine. Start tomorrow.”

“Don’t rush,” Zhang Chi negotiated calmly. “What does ‘won’t treat me badly’ mean exactly?”

Xue Bao Tian quoted a number and sneered: “Satisfied, Xiao Zhang?”

Zhang Chi straightened up and said calmly, “Not really satisfied.”

He took out his phone again, adjusted the map, found the direction, and turned to walk toward the nearby bus stop.

Xue Bao Tian slowly followed him in the car. “You’ve got quite the appetite. Tell me—how much do you want?”

The walking navigation on Zhang Chi’s phone was broadcasting directions. The sweet female voice made Xue Bao Tian irritated. “It’s past four in the morning. Where the hell are you going to catch a bus? Get in, I’ll give you a ride. We can talk about the price on the way.”

The street was empty. Zhang Chi didn’t stop walking. “If I wait a bit longer, there’ll be an early bus.” Then he added, “I don’t want money.”

A voice laced with suppressed anger came from the sports car: “If you don’t want money, then what do you want?”

Zhang Chi turned his head toward Xue Bao Tian, his gaze trailing meaningfully over his body.

The sports car screeched to a stop. Realizing what he meant, Xue Bao Tian cursed from inside the car: “Are you fucking born from your dick? Is that all you think about? Get the hell out of here! I’ve got money—do you think I can’t hire someone? You’re just born to be poor!”

With a roar, the sports car made a sharp turn and sped off in the opposite direction…
