TUMIT – Volume 2: Chapter 29

The Third Prince showed no impatience at all. He moved as if to loosen Mu Xueshi’s clothing so he could apply medicine to his back.

Instead, Mu Xueshi grew flustered.

Undressing while eating felt extremely awkward.

And he suddenly remembered the embarrassment from the last time in the bathing pool. Cold sweat broke out across his back.

He hurriedly waved his hands.

“No need, no need! Let’s eat first. You can do it when we go to sleep later.”

The corners of the Third Prince’s eyes held a trace of amusement. Since Mu Xueshi told him to stop, he simply withdrew his hands.

Then he picked up a wine cup and prepared to pour wine for him.

Mu Xueshi’s large eyes rolled thoughtfully as they followed the prince’s hand. Noticing the smile lingering on the prince’s face, he asked,

“Are you happy because you’re going to marry a consort?”

The Third Prince did not answer.

Instead he placed a small portion of food into Mu Xueshi’s bowl.

Mu Xueshi stared at the food silently.

His heart felt both sour and sweet.

The Third Prince had never been this attentive before.

Was the prince only being kind because he was in a good mood?

If that were the case, Mu Xueshi would rather see the prince’s cold expression again. When the prince scolded him, at least it was because of him.

But if the prince was happy, it must be because of someone else.

Thinking this, Mu Xueshi lifted the cup of wine the prince had poured for him and drank it in one gulp.

A sharp burning sensation tore through his throat, nearly forcing tears from his eyes.

Wine passed through sorrowful thoughts.

Looking at the Third Prince sitting so close beside him, Mu Xueshi suddenly felt a deep sense of melancholy.

His vision gradually blurred.

He had barely drunk anything, yet he was already half drunk.

The prince’s voice beside him sounded distant and indistinct.

Soon Mu Xueshi became strangely excited. He grabbed the Third Prince’s hand, laughing and crying at the same time while speaking nonsense.

After he had said enough, he began rampaging around the room.

He wandered here and there, knocking against things and pounding randomly, behaving like a small lunatic performing bizarre antics.

Soon even the room was not enough for him.

He rushed toward the door, only to be stopped by the Third Prince.

Mu Xueshi struggled like a stubborn little bull.

The Third Prince gripped his shoulders tightly, but Mu Xueshi began biting at the prince’s clothing while shouting,

“Let me out… let me out… I have to go wait for the Yinglan flower to bloom! It’s already dark!”

The Third Prince’s heart tightened.

Mu Xueshi’s small face was flushed red, though it was not his true appearance.

The prince had long covered Mu Xueshi’s real face with a thin film to conceal that peerless beauty beneath.

But Mu Xueshi seemed completely unaware of it.

Whenever he made exaggerated expressions, faint ripples appeared across the surface of that disguise.

Mu Xueshi had already mistaken the person before him for someone else.

Pointing at the Third Prince, he shouted,

“Move aside! If you delay the treatment of the Third Prince’s illness, you’ll die for it!”

The prince could neither laugh nor cry.

Since little food had been eaten at the table, he simply lifted Mu Xueshi into his arms and carried him toward the inner chamber.

Mu Xueshi continued struggling wildly.

“Put me down! What are you trying to do holding me like this?”

Seeing the prince still unmoved, Mu Xueshi suddenly swung a fist toward his face.

For once, a rare authority appeared on his small face as he roared,

“The Third Prince isn’t your friend! You don’t know how worried people are! Don’t look at me—if you look at me like that, you’re not sincere toward the Third Prince either!”

The Third Prince neither became angry nor resisted.

He simply endured Mu Xueshi’s blows.

When he placed Mu Xueshi onto the bed, Mu Xueshi burst into loud sobs.

While crying, he stammered between broken breaths,

“The Yinglan… flower… it must have… bloomed… I didn’t see it… the Third Prince… can’t be saved…”

The prince’s heart stirred.

He removed the thin mask covering Mu Xueshi’s face, revealing tear-streaked beauty like pear blossoms in rain.

Mu Xueshi cried messily like a small kitten, even grabbing the prince’s robe to wipe his face.

Suddenly, soft lips silenced his sobbing.

A sweet taste filled Mu Xueshi’s mouth as the Third Prince’s tongue slipped inside.

The unfamiliar yet strangely familiar sensation caused Mu Xueshi to stop struggling. Instead, he obediently allowed the prince to kiss him.

When Mu Xueshi finally calmed down, the Third Prince lifted his head and gazed at him with rare tenderness.

Mu Xueshi suddenly giggled.

He laughed so hard he nearly lost his breath, pounding the prince’s shoulder while saying,

“I thought you went to have fun with your consorts! I didn’t expect you’d still remember me.”

“I get bored sleeping alone.”

“If you want to go next time, wait until I fall asleep first… then just leave a rolled-up quilt beside me…”
