TUMIT – Volume 2: Chapter 3

Mu Xueshi rested with his eyes closed for a while.

Perhaps he had slept too much over the past few days, because he now felt no drowsiness at all.

Opening his eyes, he gazed intently at the person lying beside him.

The Third Prince had already sensed that Mu Xueshi was awake.

Yet he gave no sign that he himself had awakened.

Mu Xueshi had never studied the prince’s appearance so carefully before.

But after staring for a long while, he came to a startling realization.

He had possessed the wrong body.

No matter how he looked at it, the Third Prince was the truly handsome one.

Flawlessly handsome.

If anyone deserved the title of the most beautiful man under heaven, it should be the Third Prince—not the original owner of this body.

Lost in thought, Mu Xueshi unconsciously reached out and began tracing the prince’s features with his fingers.

His expression was filled with fascination.

Only when his hand brushed the prince’s lips did he suddenly realize what he was doing.

“How did I become such a pervert…?”

he muttered quietly, staring at himself in disbelief.

Although the Third Prince usually remained perfectly composed, Mu Xueshi’s faint, unintentional seduction stirred impulses he found difficult to control.

Just as he was about to move, the person beside him stirred first.

The Third Prince pretended not to notice, waiting to see what Mu Xueshi would do next.

A moment later, the sound of a door opening echoed softly.

Mu Xueshi had slipped out.

The Third Prince had a vague idea what he intended to do—but he was not entirely certain.

After two days of rest, Mu Xueshi felt that the pain in his wounds had eased somewhat.

Walking, however, still left him sore.

He glanced around before spotting Eunuch Tai’an standing guard not far away.

Mu Xueshi limped over.

“Don’t you ever sleep?” he asked curiously.

Unlike Su Ruhan or the Third Prince, Eunuch Tai’an was not cold in demeanor.

He replied amiably,

“This servant is not tired. While standing guard at night, I dare not relax for even a moment.”

“But even if you try not to slack off, your body can’t keep up. I’m telling you—I can fall asleep even while standing. Hehe…”

Mu Xueshi covered his mouth and laughed quietly.

Eunuch Tai’an merely curled his lips slightly in response.

He understood the difference in their positions.

Mu Xueshi had practically become the second master of this place.

Eunuch Tai’an could not behave so freely—but he still had to respond appropriately.

After chatting for a while, Mu Xueshi realized that the eunuch was quite easy to talk to.

Feeling reassured, he finally asked,

“Do you know what the Yinglan Flower looks like?”

Eunuch Tai’an answered solemnly,

“When it is not blooming, the Yinglan Flower looks no different from ordinary weeds, making it extremely difficult to identify.”

“And when it blooms, it lasts only an instant before withering.”

“Those who have seen it say its crown resembles a small umbrella. Its five petals are milky white and release a faint, delicate fragrance.”

“I see…”

Mu Xueshi murmured thoughtfully.

“Then where does it usually grow? Someone must have scattered seeds once—surely they would know where to find it?”

Eunuch Tai’an chuckled softly.

“Young Master does not know this. The Yinglan Flower is not planted by people.”

“It grows where Gu worms lay their eggs in the soil.”

“Wherever Gu worms are active, Yinglan flowers are more likely to appear.”

“Young Master may simply try his luck.”

“OK!”

Mu Xueshi shouted suddenly.

He hurried off toward the place where he had once caught insects for specimens.

As he walked, he held his aching backside and limped awkwardly, looking rather ridiculous.

Soon he crouched in a patch of grass, staring intently at the unremarkable weeds.

Although tonight was not the night of the full moon, he still intended to wait here.

He had to see the Yinglan Flower bloom once with his own eyes.

Otherwise, when the full moon came, he might miss that brief instant.

And if that happened, the Third Prince’s illness would have to wait another month.

Remembering the pain of the Gu poison’s last attack, Mu Xueshi shuddered all over.
