Zhi Li blurred in Ke Bu’s tear-filled vision. Ke Bu wiped his eyes hard with the back of his hand, wanting to see Zhi Li’s face, to see his expression clearly, but no matter how many times he wiped away the tears, everything remained blurred. So… had Zhi Li known from the very beginning? Had he seen through everything from the start? Of course. How could Ke Bu’s terrible acting possibly fool him? Didn’t that make Ke Bu look ridiculous, like he had been performing a one-man show this entire time? He had lied to Zhi Li again and again. Zhi Li had been so angry, so incredibly angry, yet Ke Bu had continued acting in front of him, telling one lie after another. Zhi Li could have exposed him immediately, but instead he had waited until now, waited until he couldn’t endure it anymore. Whose limits had he been testing? Countless emotions churned wildly inside Ke Bu, and countless words fought to get out, yet he couldn’t say a single one.
“Don’t just cry.” Zhi Li’s fingers had only just wiped the tears from Ke Bu’s face before his cheeks were wet again.
He was waiting for Ke Bu’s answer. Would Ke Bu continue denying it? Would he insist that he really had forgotten him? Yet all the irritation inside Zhi Li surrendered in the face of Ke Bu’s tears. He truly had no way to deal with Ke Bu at all. At this point, whether Ke Bu denied it or admitted it, Zhi Li could only accept him.
Ke Bu cried until he could barely breathe. Zhi Li’s blood in his palm had already grown cold and begun to dry. His words came out broken between sobs. “I… when I woke up and saw how angry you were, I didn’t know what to do, so I blurted that out without thinking. Later… later… I thought if your grandmother believed I had amnesia too, then for a while she would… would wait and watch what happened. I wanted to use that time to figure out how to deal with her, but… but everything went out of control… Fighting with you made it impossible for me to think. My head became a complete mess. Everything about me became a mess. She was right. I’m useless. I’m useless. Without you, I can’t do anything by myself. I wanted to solve it on my own. I really wanted to…” Zhi Li pulled Ke Bu tightly into his arms, hard enough to hurt.
“That’s enough. You don’t have to say anything else. Shh.” He lowered his head and kissed Ke Bu’s hair. “You’re so stupid it makes me want to get angry.”
“You’re going to be angry at me again?”
“If you call yourself useless again, I will.”
“Does it hurt?” Ke Bu placed his hand over Zhi Li’s wound. Zhi Li took his hand and slowly moved it upward until it rested over his heart. “Are you asking about here?”
“I didn’t mean to lie to you. I wasn’t trying to run away either. This is the life I can endure. The normal life I want.”
“Then forget the things I said.”
“But I…” Ke Bu’s words disappeared into Zhi Li’s mouth. His movements were incredibly gentle. He kissed Ke Bu’s lips little by little, then slowly moved upward, kissing the tip of his nose, the tracks of his tears, the corners of his eyes. Ke Bu’s fingers clutched Zhi Li’s collar as though his entire body had melted into water, pressing tightly against Zhi Li’s chest. The rhythm of Zhi Li’s heartbeat sent tremors through Ke Bu’s own heart. Zhi Li slipped a hand beneath the hem of Ke Bu’s clothes, his fingertips tracing upward along each section of his spine. Ke Bu lay back, wrapping his legs around Zhi Li’s waist.
When Zhi Li slowly entered him, Ke Bu’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He let out only a soft moan, yet his voice was already hoarse. He gripped the headboard with both hands as the bed struck the wall in a steady rhythm. Ke Bu didn’t dare close his eyes because everything felt too much like a dream. Zhi Li’s face, filled with desire, was only a short distance away. When Ke Bu raised a hand to touch his face, Zhi Li caught it instead. Their fingers slipped between each other’s and intertwined. Zhi Li continued moving at the same steady pace while lowering his mouth to kiss the back of Ke Bu’s hand.
Wrapped in warmth, Ke Bu was almost beginning to fall asleep when Zhi Li leaned down and whispered beside his ear, “You’ve adjusted by now, right? Then I’m going to start.”
“Weren’t we almost finished?!” Ke Bu’s drowsiness vanished instantly.
“We haven’t done it in so long. My lower half isn’t going to agree to letting you off that easily.” The moment the words left his mouth, Zhi Li lifted Ke Bu and made him sit astride him, gripping Ke Bu’s waist as he thrust upward. Ke Bu’s head fell back. “Ngh! Ah, ah, ah!” He could feel Zhi Li’s desire passing through his body with frightening clarity, striking his sensitive places with force.
“Mm, mm… Zhi Li… ah, ngh… like this, like this I’m going to…” His useless body surrendered before he could even finish speaking. Zhi Li clearly knew what had happened, yet deliberately refused to slow down. “You’re going to what?”
“Already… ngh… don’t… let me rest for a bit… ah, ah… ahh… no, don’t… don’t…”
“The more you say no, the more I want to bully you.” Zhi Li lightly bit the raised flesh on Ke Bu’s chest and teased it with the tip of his tongue. Zhi Li’s desire easily ignited Ke Bu’s own, and everything seemed to burn, burning everything completely away.
In a dark corner on the hospital’s first floor, a nurse held a phone to her ear. “The amnesia was fake. Mm. Understood.” Only after the person on the other end hung up did the nurse put the phone back into her bag.
Heavy night. Heavy sleep. An arm was never actually as comfortable as a pillow. Just as Ke Bu was inwardly complaining that he couldn’t sleep properly, the sleeping Zhi Li rolled over and pulled his arm out from beneath Ke Bu’s head. A few seconds later, Ke Bu opened his eyes, turned Zhi Li’s body back toward him, positioned his arm properly, and laid his head on it again.
Perhaps peaceful dreams were waiting for the two of them here. But what about the other side? What was waiting there? Dark figures emerged outside both Ke Qin’s home and Wu Qian’s home.
So many things had happened during this night, and this night was still going.
Why was this night so, so long?
