The teacher was at the podium, spittle flying everywhere as he lectured. Ke Bu propped up his chin with one hand and looked at the chat group. This bunch of people talked way too much. Thinking about it, it really was somewhat unbelievable. From the moment he had just met them at the start of school until now, it seemed as if they had gone through many things together. Although they often argued with each other, betrayed each other, spat at each other, and beat each other up, they had always stayed together. Their good was hidden inside their bad. He had thought he would live his entire life without being understood, yet he had been dragged out of the dark swamp by Zhi Li. Ke Bu knew that life was not enough with only two people.
His twisted ankle still throbbed faintly. Ke Bu sent a message in the group: “My foot still hurts a little.” The chat group, which had originally been lively, instantly went quiet. After waiting a minute, he quickly typed, “Is no one going to show me any concern?!” He took back what he said earlier. This pack of beasts should go die, all of them, cleanly and completely.
Outside the classroom, a middle-aged woman passed by the window. Ke Bu looked over. The woman was holding a child in each hand, one boy and one girl, around five years old. After giving a couple of instructions, the woman left. From the looks of it, she did not seem like their mother, more like a nanny. The two children stood at the door and cautiously poked their heads in to look. Only then did Ke Bu clearly see what the children looked like. They were a pair of twins, with watery big eyes, rosy little mouths, and chubby faces. The boy was wearing a tiny black suit with a tie, while the girl wore a pink puffy dress and a pink hairband on her head. The two of them looked as if they could be placed in a display cabinet and sold as porcelain dolls. They were too cute!! Their cuteness drew screams from the girls in the classroom, and some even took out their phones to take pictures.
The teacher coughed lightly, his voice softening as he looked at the two children. “Children, are you looking for someone?”
The two children directly ignored the teacher’s question, stood on tiptoe, and searched the classroom. The girl suddenly shouted and tugged at the boy’s clothes. “There, Daddy, Daddy!!” The child’s bell-like cry made everyone sharply suck in a breath.
The girl and the boy ran into the classroom. Chu Hao Yu nudged Zhi Li, who was sleeping face-down on the desk. “I don’t know which idiot caused this outside, but there’s a good show to watch.” Zhi Li opened his eyes, leaned back against the chair, and looked completely indifferent. The direction the two children ran in was none other than toward Zhi Li. The two of them fought to throw themselves onto Zhi Li’s thighs. “Daddy, I missed you so much.”
“Daddy, I missed you even more.”
Zhi Li stared at the children rubbing against his legs. “Why are you two here?” He didn’t deny it!! The entire class petrified, especially Ke Bu. When had this happened? Behind his back, Zhi Li had somehow produced two children this big!!
“Kindergarten is on holiday. That stinky woman Dora bragged to us that she came to school to look for you, so we wanted to come see Daddy too.”
Chu Hao Yu was the first to react, jumping up from his seat at once. “Zhi Li, you, you, you…” It seemed the shock was too great; he could not even form a complete sentence. The little boy rolled his eyes. “Daddy, who is this trash?” They were his children. This genetic inheritance—there was absolutely no mistake. They were his children.
“Daddy, I’m hungry. I want to eat.” The little girl looked at Zhi Li pitifully. The two children made so much noise that the class could not continue. The teacher coughed awkwardly again. He could not interfere with a student’s private life. “Zhi Li, take them outside first. After all, this is class, and you can’t disturb the students around you.”
The little girl rolled her eyes and pulled Zhi Li. “Daddy, let’s go. Don’t disturb him. Look at that bear-like appearance of his. How many PhDs could he possibly teach?” The veins on the teacher’s forehead twitched.
Zhi Li lazily stood up, took two steps, then lowered his head. “Hey, you two, don’t hug my legs. How am I supposed to walk?” The two obediently let go and well-behavedly followed behind him, leaving behind a stunned crowd. What exactly had that scene just now been? Ke Bu collapsed onto the desk as if his soul had left him. He only knew one thing: those two children calling Zhi Li “Daddy” definitely had not been born from him.
As soon as class ended, the others who had received the news rushed toward the school building. Ke Bu limped behind them. When they pushed open the door, they saw the two children gathered around the table eating snacks, while Zhi Li drew beside them.
“Shouldn’t you explain a little? How old were you when you had these two children with someone else, and who is their biological mother?”
Through Zhi Li’s brief explanation, they finally figured it out. This pair of twins was called Zhi Xiao Ke and Zhi Xiao Xun, and they were the children of Zhi Li’s uncle. They admired this Brother Zhi Li very much. Once, they had dragged Zhi Li into playing house and made him be the father. For reasons unknown, ever since then, they had always called him Daddy. Ying Xiu Jie looked at the two little brats. “What, so that’s what it was.” Zhi Xiao Ke frowned and glared back at Ying Xiu Jie. “What are you looking at, stinky hooligan? Daddy, this yellow-haired kid has designs on me.” Ying Xiu Jie retreated in horror. “Is it inborn? Whether it’s Lan Yin’s family side or Zhi Li’s father’s side, this personality that makes people gnash their teeth.”
Zhou Xin He stepped forward with a motherly smile and started a conversation. “Hello, little friends. I’m Zhi Li’s friend, my name is Zhou Xin He. You can just call me Big Sister Xin He.”
“We’re not that close. Calling you Zhou Xin He is fine.” Zhi Xiao Xun stuffed potato chips into his mouth.
“What adorable children.” Gong Zhu wanted to place his hand on Zhi Xiao Xun’s head. Zhi Xiao Xun’s cold gaze stared at that hand, and Gong Zhu’s hand froze awkwardly in midair. Chu Hao Yu laughed gloatingly beside them. Zhi Xiao Xun and Zhi Xiao Ke looked at him. “So this trash is still here.”
“Zhi Li!! Have you taught them what manners are?”
“Have you ever seen Zhi Li have manners?” Ke Bu reminded him. After what had happened just now, Ke Bu no longer had the courage to go forward and greet them.
“Ke Bu, aren’t you coming over to meet your future family?”
After witnessing one after another, Ke Bu increasingly did not want to enter Zhi Li’s family. Zhi Xiao Xun turned around. “You’re Ke Bu? I heard Dora talk about you. So you’re a cripple. You wouldn’t also be mentally disabled, would you?”
Zhi Xiao Ke raised her chubby little hand. “I heard about him too. She said he’s an extremely vulgar good-for-nothing.” Ke Bu clenched his teeth. That bastard Dora. He put on a flattering smile. “Brother Ke Bu isn’t like what Dora said. Don’t believe her. Later, Big Brother will buy you something to eat, okay?” What Ke Bu’s attempt to curry favor received was a cold reaction. “Do you think we’re five-year-old children?”
“Aren’t you exactly that!!!”
Zhi Xiao Xun snatched the snack from Zhi Xiao Ke’s hands. “Daddy bought this for me.”
“It’s mine.” Directly ignoring Ke Bu, the two began fighting over the snacks. “Let go, stinky brat.”
“You let go, dead woman.”
The two little legs began kicking each other. Zhi Xiao Ke called out to Zhi Li, “Daddy, Xiao Xun is stealing my snack. You bought it for me, right?”
“What?”
Zhi Xiao Xun refused to back down. “Daddy, you bought it for me, right?”
“What?” He even used this trick on children?
During the tugging, the snack bag tore open, and the contents flew out, scattering over Zhi Li’s sketchbook. Zhi Xiao Ke and Zhi Xiao Xun stood properly like children who had done something wrong. Zhi Li reprimanded them. “Do you understand manners?” Ke Bu pointed at Zhi Li. “That sentence should have been used earlier!!” They had said a whole pile of rude things and he had shown no reaction, yet the moment his own sketchbook was dirtied, he started lecturing others. A family of devils.
“To think you would speak so loudly to Daddy!!” Zhi Xiao Ke widened her eyes, then folded her arms and looked sidelong at Ke Bu from the corner of her eye. “Don’t think I don’t understand those little thoughts of yours. You want to use this to attract Daddy’s attention, don’t you? What, do you want us to call you Mommy?”
“I do not!! And don’t look at me with that kind of gaze!!” What kind of education had been poured into these two children?
He was ignored again. Zhi Xiao Ke took a mirror out of the animal-shaped little bag slung across her body and looked into it, touching her own face. “The air here is very dry. I wonder if I’ll get wrinkles. Sure enough, once one gets older, something like time is truly cruel.” Hearing a five-year-old child say this kind of thing, the group of people who were more than twice her age all dimmed.
“Daddy, if no one wants me, will you marry me?”
“No. Close relatives can’t get married.”
“Why!!” Zhi Xiao Ke widened her eyes in disbelief.
“The chance of hereditary diseases in the next generation would be very high.”
What kind of conversation was this!! Zhi Li shook the snacks off his sketchbook and continued, “And besides, someone wouldn’t agree either.”
“Who?”
“Ke…” Before Zhi Li could finish speaking, Ke Bu rushed forward like an arrow and covered Zhi Li’s mouth. “What are you trying to say to a child!!”
“There he goes again. Stop pestering Daddy all the time. Can’t you have a little reserve?”
“I don’t need you to lecture me.”
“Tsk, tsk. I’ve seen it on TV. People like you are very likely not satisfied. Ke something, what was it again? Ke Trash Trash.”
“Remember my name properly!! And stop watching strange TV shows.”
Zhi Li stared at Ke Bu. “So that’s how it is.”
“Don’t agree with her!!”
Zhi Xiao Xun looked at Su You Yan, who was silently reading beside them, and walked over. “Hey. You there. You’re the type I like, so…” Zhi Xiao Xun suddenly blushed. “Do you want to try dating?”
“In my eyes, at best, you are an infant.”
“How would you know whether we could be happy if we don’t try?” These twins had watched way too many strange TV shows!
“We’re not suitable. You should find someone else.”
“You only say that because you don’t understand me.”
“I say that because I do understand you. Sorry, but I think I will be unable to be with you in this lifetime.”
“How could this be? You’ll regret this decision.” Zhi Xiao Xun said seriously.
It was very hard to imagine that this was a conversation between a kindergarten child and a university student!
