TUMIT – Volume 2: Chapter 2

The Third Prince lowered his eyes slightly, his expression growing colder.

While Poison Master Mo Ru puzzled over the situation, he could not help but admire how handsome the prince looked no matter what expression he wore.

“According to the earlier diagnosis, this young master had been afflicted by severe poison. Even if Your Highness removed it, some lingering harm should remain.”

“But when I examined him just now, his meridians were perfectly clear. There is not the slightest trace of Gu poison left.”

“So I must ask Your Highness to consider—could someone else have once used Gu techniques on Young Master Xue?”

The Third Prince frowned.

“In this world… who else could contend against hundreds of thousand-year Gu worms?”

Suddenly the Gu Master looked toward the prince.

The Third Prince had clearly reached the same conclusion.

Mo Ru shuddered slightly.

“Yue Lingchai disappeared from the jianghu long ago. Some said that while cultivating the Blood Servant Divine Art, she suffered a deviation of qi and perished inside the demonic formation she had created.”

“Yet if she has reappeared now, then those rumors were false.”

“But why would she return to jianghu after so many years…?”

While the Gu Master remained deep in troubled thought, two guards stepped forward beside him.

One of them was Sun Ye.

Sun Ye understood the Third Prince’s intentions immediately. It was clear that the prince no longer wished for anyone to remain in his private chamber.

Taking advantage of the moment, Sun Ye seized the opportunity to throw this sly old fox out of the courtyard.

Dragged toward the gate by force, the Gu Master showed no anger at all.

Instead he laughed lightly.

“Your Highness should worry about yourself before worrying about the one on the bed.”

“That young master has a powerful benefactor aiding him.”

“But the Gu poison in Your Highness’s body has not yet been fully removed.”

“If you truly wish me never to disturb you again, then on the night of the full moon—when the Yinglan Flower blooms—collect its pollen and lightly apply it to the backs of both hands.”

“Of course, Yinglan flowers rarely bloom. If one happens to open on the night of the full moon… then Your Highness may consider yourself fortunate.”

With that, Mo Ru turned his head toward Sun Ye with a grin.

Then he leapt lightly into the air and vanished from the courtyard.

Mu Xueshi had long since awakened.

Yet he kept his eyes closed, quietly listening to the conversation between the Third Prince and the Gu Master.

Only now did he learn that the poison in the Third Prince’s body had not been completely cured.

Earlier he had felt deeply wronged for being beaten so severely.

But now guilt welled up within him instead.

Secretly, he resolved that he must personally obtain that pollen for the Third Prince.

While Mu Xueshi was still thinking about it, the Third Prince suddenly shifted him a short distance away and lay down beside him.

The movement tugged painfully at Mu Xueshi’s wounds, and he could not help letting out a muffled groan.

His fingers tightened unconsciously on the bedding.

Since returning, Mu Xueshi had seemed far less lively than before.

The Third Prince could not help noticing.

In the past, even after being exiled to the frontier and beaten far worse than this, Mu Xueshi had awakened as energetic as ever.

But now he remained unusually quiet.

The Third Prince found himself staring at him absentmindedly.

Only when Mu Xueshi suddenly spoke did he come back to his senses.

“…I’m sorry.”

Mu Xueshi buried his face in the blanket as he spoke.

The Third Prince immediately understood.

He must have overheard the earlier conversation and now felt guilty about the poison.

For a brief moment, the prince’s gaze softened.

But his words remained merciless.

“Starting tomorrow, you will train in martial arts.”

“You will also begin investigating the case of Grand Tutor Mu.”

“If you fail to uncover the truth before the end of the month—even if I spare your life, the Emperor will not.”

Mu Xueshi asked quietly,

“You’ll be the one teaching me martial arts?”

“No. Su Ruhan will.”

“Could you teach me instead? I don’t want him to.”

“No.”

“Oh…”

Mu Xueshi had almost asked who Grand Tutor Mu was.

Then he suddenly remembered his own name.

Mu Xueshi.

Which meant the Grand Tutor must have been his father.

But hadn’t his father been killed by him?

Why investigate the case again?

Was there some hidden truth?

And what did the Emperor have to do with it?

After a long pause, Mu Xueshi cautiously asked,

“…Do you not wish for me to die?”

“No.”

“I simply cannot bear the death of Grand Tutor Mu.”

“That is why I must find the real murderer.”

“Heh… I knew it wouldn’t be…”

Mu Xueshi pressed his face against the pillow.

Enduring the sharp pain from his wounds, he quietly closed his eyes.
