The boy touched her forehead gently.
“What’s wrong? Not feeling well?”
She slapped his hand away.
“Don’t touch me!”
His expression changed at once.
“What happened? Did I do something?”
She tossed her head arrogantly.
“You did nothing. I just don’t like you anymore. I’ve fallen for someone else. So stay away from me. I can’t stand the sight of you. Understand?”
She even jabbed a finger into his shoulder, her manner utterly unlike her usual self.
Seeing her smirk, the boy suddenly laughed.
“You’re teasing me, aren’t you? Naughty girl.”
“Take your filthy hands off me! I don’t have time to tease you. The one I like is a thousand times better than you.”
“Oh? Who?”
“Chen Youzai.”
Two seconds later, uproarious laughter exploded through the parking lot.
The boy bent over, clutching his stomach.
“If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable! Chen Youzai? Who besides the blind or livestock would fall for him? Hahaha!”
A flurry of fists struck him.
He mistook it for playful affection and pulled her roughly into his arms, pressing his lips to hers.
She froze.
Her mouth, opened in shock, gave him the chance to deepen the kiss.
At the instant their tongues tangled—
Chen Youzai’s mind snapped awake.
The body was hers.
The sensation was his.
His first kiss—stolen by a boy.
And not just any boy.
His rival.
Humiliation. Revulsion. There were no stronger words.
“AHHHHHHH!”
He shoved the boy away, screaming again and again, eyes blazing with fury.
In a flash, he grasped the coin.
An instant later, the real girl stood obediently before him once more, her earlier disdain replaced by confusion.
He felt both love and hatred in equal measure.
The girl blinked, as though waking from a daze. When she focused, she found the boy staring at her with an oddly suggestive smile.
“What’s wrong?” she asked softly.
“Nothing.” He smirked. “I just want to hold you.”
Her cheeks flushed red. She neither agreed nor refused.
Taking her silence for consent, he pulled her roughly into his embrace.
Seconds later, however, his confidence evaporated.
His body tensed. His hands trembled. Sweat beaded on his brow.
“I… I…”
His voice faltered.
“I really like you, Li Linfan.”
At the sound of his own name spoken in that voice, he jolted violently.
The thrill and joy of moments ago vanished—drenched as though by a basin of icy water.
The sweat upon his forehead turned cold.
