The man’s body gradually faded.
Light flooded the chamber.
His voice echoed through the air:
“The Soul-Transference Coin now bears the name Chen Youzai. Only he may see it with the naked eye. If lost, no second person shall gain its power. Should the order of time and space be disturbed, the coin will alter its nature and may no longer submit to human control.”
Chen Youzai barely listened.
He was busy scheming—before waking, perhaps he could slip into his rival’s body and take advantage of the girl he secretly admired.
As wild fantasies bloomed, the man vanished completely.
The chamber dissolved.
Darkness engulfed him.
Morning.
Chen Youzai stretched lazily, dissatisfaction lingering on his face.
A faint metallic clink from the floor reminded him of his dream.
“How ironic…” he muttered. “Obsessed with being handsome—now I’m dreaming about drowned uncles and magic coins.”
He rubbed his eyes and reached for his alarm clock.
At that very moment, it rang.
Yawning, he began dressing.
Suddenly—
A sharp beam of light stabbed into his eyes.
He blinked, vision swimming gold.
He followed the glow across the floor.
As he approached, the light dimmed. When he held his breath and picked up the silver coin, its radiance vanished entirely, leaving only an ordinary coin in his palm.
His lips trembled.
His whole body shook.
He slapped himself hard across the face.
The pain rang clear.
His expression changed violently.
“No way… Heaven… Heaven above… Mom!”
He bolted from his room.
His mother was in the kitchen preparing breakfast. Hearing his shouting, she turned—just as he came rushing out.
“Mom—ah—this coin—look at this coin! It’s really—my god—it’s not ordinary—”
She stared at him with a forced smile.
Then smacked him sharply on the head.
“Played too many video games? All coins and coins in that brain of yours!”
“No, Mom, look—just look—”
“Look at what? There’s nothing there!”
She brushed his hand aside and shoved him toward the bathroom.
Chen Youzai stood frozen.
She can’t see it? Only I can? Does that mean I have powers? Am I becoming immortal? Like Sun Wukong—able to become anyone at will?
The thought electrified him.
He burst into wild laughter.
Seeing his mother glance over suspiciously, an idea flashed in his mind.
