The middle-aged man’s body slowly disappeared, and Chen Youzai felt the surroundings begin to brighten. Immediately afterward, the man’s words kept echoing through the air.
“The Soul-Transfer Coin has already been bound with Chen Youzai’s name. Only Chen Youzai himself can see it with the naked eye. If Chen Youzai unfortunately loses it, no one else will have the right to use it a second time. If the order of time and space is disrupted, the Soul-Transfer Coin will automatically change its properties and may very likely no longer be controlled by human will.”
Chen Youzai did not listen at all. He kept thinking about how, before the dream ended, he should run into his love rival’s soul and take a little advantage of the girl he secretly liked. Just as Chen Youzai’s thoughts were running wild, the middle-aged man before his eyes completely disappeared, and the room vanished too. His mind went blank, and then he sank into boundless darkness.
When Chen Youzai woke up, he discovered that it was already broad daylight. He stretched lazily, his face full of dissatisfaction. The sound of something falling to the floor made Chen Youzai involuntarily think of the dream he had yesterday.
“How ironic!” Chen Youzai muttered to himself. He had wanted to become handsome so badly that he had gone mad. A middle-aged man? A Soul-Transfer Coin? Chen Youzai rubbed his sleepy eyes and picked up the alarm clock beside his hand to take a look. What perfect timing—the alarm rang at that exact moment. Chen Youzai gave a huge yawn and began putting on clothes and getting out of bed.
Suddenly, a bright light shot fiercely into Chen Youzai’s eyes. Chen Youzai shook his head, but still felt that everything was filled with golden light. He narrowed his eyes and groped toward that brightness. By the time Chen Youzai approached the beam of light, it slowly dimmed. When Chen Youzai held his breath and picked up that silver coin, the light on it immediately went out, and it became no different from an ordinary coin.
Chen Youzai’s lips trembled uncontrollably, and his entire body shuddered along with them. He slapped himself hard across the face again. The clear pain spread out, and Chen Youzai’s face abruptly changed color. Immediately, he opened his mouth wide and cried out.
“No way… Oh my God… Oh my God… Holy crap!”
Chen Youzai ran outside excitedly. Chen’s mother was making breakfast in the kitchen. Hearing Chen Youzai shouting and yelling in his room, she was just about to go see what was going on when Chen Youzai ran out on his own.
When Chen Youzai saw his mother, he broke into a sweat while speaking incoherently. “Mom… ah… the silver coin… I’m telling you, look at this… silver coin… can you see this silver coin? This thing is really… oh my God… it’s no ordinary coin…”
Mother Chen looked at Chen Youzai twice with a smile that did not reach her eyes, then suddenly gave him a sharp smack on the head and scolded loudly, “You little brat, have you gone crazy from playing games? Your head is full of nothing but coins, coins, coins…”
Chen Youzai grew anxious. Trembling, he held that silver coin and explained loudly, “No, Mom, look. I’m telling you…”
“Look at what? There’s not even a fart there…” Mother Chen knocked Chen Youzai’s hand away, shoved him impatiently, and urged him to hurry up and brush his teeth and wash his face.
Chen Youzai did not take in a single word. He still stood motionless where he was, staring blankly at that silver coin. Mom can’t see it? Am I the only one with this magic power? Am I going to become an immortal? Like Sun Wukong, able to turn into whoever I want? That would be way too cool! Chen Youzai burst into laughter on his own. Seeing Mother Chen’s glance over in his direction, Chen Youzai instantly came up with a plan.
