Baoyu City was in complete chaos.
Under the effects of the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace, the mortal residents could no longer move. All they could do was wail and wait for death.
The cultivators in the city could barely resist, yet they had no idea what they were supposed to resist. Runes locked them firmly inside the city, leaving them unable even to escape.
Amid the chaos, Xiang Moyue somehow produced a folding fan and began waving it with a smiling squint. Looking up at the brilliant golden pill furnace in the sky, he thought, One person or an entire city. Which will you choose?
* * *
Xia Yunzhao looked at the unconscious Xiang Yu on the ground, his heart sinking little by little.
They had searched all night for the flaw in the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace, only to discover that the flaw was right here. Xiang Yu was the flaw.
Xiang Yu was the “pill furnace,” while everyone in Baoyu City was “human fuel.” Zhu Lingzi intended to drain the vitality of those hundreds of thousands of people to supply nourishment for him.
Kill Xiang Yu, and the problem would solve itself.
Zhu Lingzi shook his head slightly as he looked at Xia Yunzhao. “It seems you still haven’t given up. I’ll ask you one more time. Will you become my disciple, or will you turn to ash together with the five hundred thousand people of Baoyu City?”
Even at a time like this, Xia Yunzhao still had room to joke with himself. A timeless philosophical problem, and I actually ran straight into one. The trolley problem, furnace edition.
With disaster staring him in the face, he instead calmed down. He spread his hands and said indifferently, “Sorry. I’ve never been very good at reading the room.”
Zhu Lingzi looked deeply disappointed, like a fine student had finally chosen the wrong road. He raised two fingers and made a slicing gesture. “In that case, go down and clear your head.”
Xia Yunzhao felt a force lift his entire body. Completely unable to resist, he was thrown out and began plummeting.
A white figure rushed toward him so quickly it was almost invisible to the naked eye and caught him. A familiar aura immediately wrapped around his whole body.
“Are you all right?”
“How did it go?”
They spoke at the same time, then looked at each other. In the end Xia Yunzhao answered first. “That lunatic dragged me into the pill furnace. He insisted on taking me as his disciple. I refused, so he threw me out. What about you?”
Shang Shuangze expertly checked him from head to toe, inside and out, and answered while doing so, “Everyone has regrouped. They’re waiting for you.”
As they spoke, the two landed on the ground. Sure enough, Zhong Yundu, Du Yan, and the others were all together. Even Su Ying, Su Meng, and Jing Ruyun, who had been protecting them, were there. Seeing Xia Yunzhao unharmed, everyone relaxed.
Du Yan immediately said, “The formation has already activated. The people from Baoyu City’s City Lord Residence have started killing people. The city is in chaos.”
Zhong Yundu added, “I killed two of their people. The moment they died, their bodies disappeared.”
Xia Yunzhao nodded. “To conserve spiritual power, he’ll have us kill one another first, then wipe out whoever remains. The Heaven-and-Earth Furnace absorbs anyone who dies.”
Everyone’s scalps prickled. What a vicious method!
Shang Shuangze suddenly asked, “Every formation has a formation eye. Does the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace have one?”
Xia Yunzhao thought for a moment. The Heaven-and-Earth Furnace was not truly a formation, so of course it had no formation eye. But the Great Dao had three thousand paths, and all eventually converged… Did that really mean the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace had no weakness? Not necessarily.
The problem was that his understanding of the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace was shallow. He had only skimmed the material once. The only reason he could recognize it at all was his current near-perfect memory. Finding a weakness would be much harder.
Thinking of that, he secretly swore that from now on, whenever he encountered some sinister method in his reference materials, he would study it properly! He could not ignore something just because he himself would never use it. You only regret not reading enough when you actually need the knowledge!
Wait…
Xia Yunzhao’s eyes lit up. He did not know the weakness of the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace, but Zhu Lingzi certainly did!
Zhu Lingzi was extraordinarily cautious. For the sake of this Heaven-and-Earth Furnace, he had even kept his own pills from circulating outside. How could he possibly not have prepared for its weaknesses in advance?
Xia Yunzhao grabbed Su Ying. “You said you saw me using the Illusion-Breaking Mirror to hit someone before. Where was it?”
Su Ying jumped in fright and stammered, “A-at the wedding banquet!”
“The wedding banquet?” Du Yan frowned. “There definitely isn’t going to be a wedding banquet now, is there?”
“The banquet is gone, but the bridal room has already been arranged.” Zhong Yundu pointed. “Over there. I saw it earlier. There are two big red lanterns hanging outside.”
Xia Yunzhao immediately stood. “Let’s go!” After two steps, he stopped. “Actually, let’s split up. Shang Shuangze, you and Brother Zhong go the other way and draw them off.”
Shang Shuangze’s grip on his hand tightened sharply, then slowly loosened. “Be careful.”
Xia Yunzhao’s heart softened. “You and Brother Zhong are the ones who need to be careful. Zhu Lingzi is a Soul Transformation cultivator. Golden Core cultivators can barely resist him at all. You absolutely have to protect yourselves.”
Shang Shuangze said nothing more. With a lift of his hand, Mingyun appeared in his grasp. He and Zhong Yundu turned toward the City Lord Residence together.
Before long, a tremendous crash sounded from that direction, and half of the City Lord Residence collapsed in an instant. Everyone in the city who served Zhu Lingzi was immediately drawn over.
Jing Ruyun shook her head speechlessly. “Do these people not know Zhu Lingzi plans to refine them too?”
Xia Yunzhao twitched the corner of his mouth. “We’re short on time. Move!”
The group hurried to the ceremonial hall. Su Ying immediately pointed toward a corner. “That’s where I saw it!”
Xia Yunzhao took out the Illusion-Breaking Mirror at once and poured spiritual power into it as though it cost nothing. The battered mirror instantly grew to half a person’s height. He raised it and shone it forward. “…What the hell?”
“Who’s there?!” A door inside was kicked open. A group of City Lord Residence cultivators rushed out, saw the intruders, and attacked immediately. “You dare ruin our City Lord’s good fortune!”
“Go!” Jing Ruyun led everyone forward. The two sides immediately crashed into each other as spells flew everywhere.
Du Yan had no attention to spare for anything else. He summoned the Heaven-Measuring Ruler and used it to protect Su Ying and Su Meng completely.
Su Ying stamped his feet anxiously, squeezed his eyes shut with all his might, and desperately tried to see a little more as the Sky-Peering Mark on his forehead flashed again and again…
Xia Yunzhao looked like the calmest person there, but only on the outside. Inside, his emotions were raging. He had seen the scene reflected in the Illusion-Breaking Mirror before!
Under the mirror’s light, all the red decorations in the bridal room disappeared. The walls became rough and uneven, black woody growths bulged inward, and even the tables and chairs in the room were squeezed out of shape…
This was exactly the scene from the Mountain God’s residence on the Heaven-Reaching Tree!
The only difference was that there was no living young man here.
Xia Yunzhao slowly let out a breath. Forget it. He had no idea what connection Baoyu City had with the Tianling Mountain Range, but he had solved this problem before!
He raised a hand. The Kunyuan Xutu Seal and Cloudwater Ferry flew out together, circling either side of him as both began to expand!
The Kunyuan Xutu Seal shot into the air and became a colossal yellow-jade seal, then smashed down with tremendous force!
The illusory scene shattered, revealing the truth behind it. Baoyu City’s guards stared in shock at the grotesque black growths, nearly forgetting where they were.
The phantom of the Heaven-Reaching Tree appeared over Cloudwater Ferry once more and grew segment by segment. Xia Yunzhao braced one hand against the trunk and poured every bit of the heaven-and-earth spiritual energy he had accumulated into it. “Grow! Grow! Grow!”
Better yet, grow as big as the real Heaven-Reaching Tree. Break straight through this Heaven-and-Earth Furnace and reach the sky! Let Zhu Lingzi see exactly what the Heavenly Dao thinks of cultivators who slaughter people like dogs!
In the chaotic city, an enormous green tree suddenly appeared, drawing almost everyone’s attention. The Baoyu City guards who had been lured toward the City Lord Residence immediately realized something was wrong and tried to rush back, only to be stopped by a saber and a sword.
The guards cursed inwardly. They simply could not understand when Baoyu City had acquired two monsters like these. Their cultivation was clearly only Golden Core, yet the guards still could not beat them!
From the golden pill furnace hanging in midair came a sudden sigh. A gigantic palm appeared out of nowhere and pressed downward, accompanied by a voice. “I find myself appreciating you more and more. Unfortunately, those who walk different Daos cannot make common cause.”
Xia Yunzhao’s heart tightened as pressure crashed down on him. He was just about to brace against it when the enormous palm snapped the Heaven-Reaching Tree with absurd ease and continued descending.
Cloudwater Ferry let out a pained hum. It shook so violently it seemed ready to rattle itself back into loose wooden planks!
Before the palm even reached him, Xia Yunzhao felt the wind from the blow aiming straight for the top of his head. His qi sea flashed. Xiao Qing flew out on its own, expanded, and covered him beneath its body!
BOOM!!!
The palm struck Xiao Qing.
A lifebound magical treasure was linked to its master’s soul. Xia Yunzhao felt as though he himself had been struck by the palm. The tremendous force blasted him into the air, slammed him against the inner wall of the pill furnace, then dropped him back down.
His internal organs felt displaced. He painfully spat out a mouthful of blood and still managed to complain, “Hitting you and hitting me… what’s the difference?!”
Xiao Qing buzzed and buzzed… Only after a long moment did a vague meaning reach him: I’m sturdier than you.
Xia Yunzhao: “…” Well, if you’re going to put it that way.
As the dust settled, it revealed the man-high green pill furnace within.
Everyone who had almost forgotten to breathe finally reacted. “City Lord!”
“Xiao Xia!”
Just as another palm was about to descend, a streak of silver suddenly illuminated Heaven and Earth. A gigantic sword shadow appeared from nowhere, and razor-sharp sword qi filled the entire Heaven-and-Earth Furnace!
Cultivators and mortals alike simultaneously felt an aura of annihilation, making them forget where and when they were…
A voice from above snapped them awake. Zhu Lingzi still did not appear in person. He merely chuckled. “Fuli Annihilation Sword? As expected. Even Baiyujing is getting anxious…”
Xia Yunzhao immediately pressed himself against the inner wall and pricked up his ears. “Shang Shuangze!” Of course he recognized his own Dao companion’s sword qi!
The sword shadow pierced straight through the palm. The very next moment, the hole in its center healed and the enormous hand pressed down again.
Across Baoyu City, every cultivator felt an overwhelming pressure crash down from above and pin them to the ground. Even the spiritual energy in their meridians stopped circulating, and the fear of death instantly seized their hearts!
Even the colossal sword shadow was crushed apart!
The white figure dropped instantly. Shang Shuangze braced himself on his sword with one hand and spat out a mouthful of blood.
The pressure slowly vanished. Xiao Qing immediately burrowed back into Xia Yunzhao’s qi sea. The walls of the pill furnace were trembling faintly too, though it was impossible to tell whether Xiao Qing was frightened or simply exhausted from holding itself together.
Xia Yunzhao ran over at once and helped Shang Shuangze up. “Are you hurt?”
Shang Shuangze took his hand and gave a slight shake of his head.
Xia Yunzhao let out half a breath of relief, intertwined their fingers, and looked upward.
So this was Soul Transformation!
Back in Xuanshuang City, Shang Shuangze had cut down the Xuanshuang City Lord with a single sword inside the small secret realm and prevented him from advancing to Soul Transformation. But someone on the verge of Soul Transformation was still not a true Soul Transformation cultivator.
A Soul Transformation cultivator could communicate with the power of Heaven and Earth. Although only one realm separated Soul Transformation from Nascent Soul, their combat strength could not be compared at all. The difference was simply heaven and earth.
The giant palm had knocked Shang Shuangze down, but it did not press closer. Instead, it slowly vanished.
“Enough.” Zhu Lingzi’s voice rang out again. “This one will not stoop to squabbling with juniors. Leave now.”
Xia Yunzhao froze. Before he could even wonder why, a gale suddenly erupted around them. Sand and stones flew everywhere, and his entire body was swept into the air.
The familiar force made him immediately tighten his grip on Shang Shuangze’s hand. Shang Shuangze squeezed back even harder.
He had no idea how many times the wind spun them around. By the time they landed, every drop of spiritual power in his body had been drained. Feeling himself fall into a familiar embrace, he forced his eyes open, saw a white sleeve in front of him, and safely passed out.
* * *
After a chaotic mess of dreams, Xia Yunzhao woke without immediately knowing where he was.
Then he saw the starry sky overhead and abruptly remembered. “Shang Shuangze!”
A lazy, roguish voice sounded beside him. “We went through life and death together, but the instant you wake up, all you know is to look for your Dao companion. Pathetic.”
Xia Yunzhao turned his head and saw a campfire in front of him. Zhong Yundu sat beside it with a blade of grass between his lips. Xia Yunzhao looked around, realized everyone else was gone and only the two of them remained, then hurriedly asked, “Where is everyone? Where’s Shang Shuangze?”
Zhong Yundu could not even be bothered to roll his eyes. “The spiritual energy nearby is abnormal. He took some people to investigate.” Then he grinned wickedly. “Shang Shuangze stayed beside you for a whole day. Who would’ve guessed you’d wake up the moment he left? He might be devastated when he comes back. Why don’t you go back to sleep and wake up again after he returns?”
This time Xia Yunzhao rolled his eyes. “Shang Shuangze isn’t that childish! Unlike you.” The sound of wind suddenly reached his ear. He lifted a hand and caught a familiar little bottle.
Zhong Yundu said lazily, “Shang Shuangze left that for you. He said to drink it as soon as you woke up.” Then he suddenly realized that if Shang Shuangze had entrusted it to him, the man must have guessed Xia Yunzhao would wake around now… Zhong Yundu immediately found the whole thing much less entertaining.
Xia Yunzhao opened the bottle and looked inside. A golden bead of immortal dew rolled around within it. It was one of Baiyujing’s supreme treasures, the Nine-Turn Nascent-Soul Condensing Dew.
Back then, Shang Shuangze had returned to his sect to ask for this medicine specifically to ease the agony caused by the secret-realm core expanding Xia Yunzhao’s meridians. After all the doses he had taken, exactly one drop remained.
Earlier, Zhu Lingzi’s palm had slammed him down hard enough to jolt his internal organs and meridians out of place. Shang Shuangze had probably left the immortal dew because he was worried Xia Yunzhao would be in pain.
Xia Yunzhao checked himself. The Myriad-Spirit Body truly was extraordinary. His injuries were already mostly healed, with only a slight sluggishness when he circulated spiritual power. He put away the Nine-Turn Nascent-Soul Condensing Dew and asked instead, “Where is everyone else? Fellow Daoist Jing, Su Ying, Su Meng… none of them were hurt, right?”
“No. You and Shang Shuangze were injured the worst. The two of you were the only ones who took one of Zhu Lingzi’s attacks head-on.” Zhong Yundu said casually, “That kid Su Meng is a little strange. He broke through to the fifth layer of Qi Refining…”
Before he could finish, an astonished shout rang out. “City Lord! You’re awake!”
Xia Yunzhao turned and saw Du Yan returning with several guards, along with the brothers Su Ying and Su Meng.
Xia Yunzhao was still worried. Shang Shuangze had been badly injured too? This was the first time Xia Yunzhao had seen him truly hurt. Last time, merely suffering sword-art backlash had cost Shang Shuangze his hearing. Would there be some problem this time?
His vision blurred and Su Meng had already rushed over. If the boy had a tail, it would probably be spinning like a propeller. “City Lord, you’re finally awake! Are you hungry? My brother, Senior Du, and the others went to look for food. We caught your favorite Fragrant-Grass Sheep! And some spirit fish too!”
Cultivators were in the habit of calling slaughter-beast fish that contained spiritual energy “spirit fish.” It did not mean they were actual spirit fish.
Xia Yunzhao barely pulled his thoughts back. “Really? Thank you…” Then he looked properly and jolted. “Wait. How are you already at the fifth layer of Qi Refining?!”
Zhong Yundu rolled his eyes again. So apparently all Xia Yunzhao had heard earlier was “Shang Shuangze.”
Su Meng hurriedly crouched so Xia Yunzhao could examine him. “I don’t know. When Zhu Lingzi was about to attack you and Senior Shang, I wanted to rush over and save you. Then I killed a cultivator, and suddenly I broke through to the fifth layer of Qi Refining.”
Du Yan walked over and looked Xia Yunzhao up and down. Seeing that he was fine, Du Yan relaxed slightly and said, “Zhong Yundu and I both checked him. This kid probably needs combat to break through. He was simply too timid before and had never fought anyone, so no one discovered it.”
Su Meng lowered his head a little sheepishly. He had been a little beggar from birth. His older brother had only picked him up because he pitied him. The two brothers had grown up like chicks huddling together for warmth, surrounded by disgusted looks and constant pursuit. Of course Su Meng had never been very brave.
Only after coming to Qingxi City and to Xia Yunzhao’s side had Su Meng slept peacefully for the first time.
He said softly, “I won’t be scared anymore.”
A warm palm landed on his head, and his City Lord’s comforting voice sounded beside him. “What’s wrong with being timid? Everyone has things they’re afraid of. I’m afraid of ghosts, for example. Good thing this world doesn’t have any. If I saw one, I probably wouldn’t even be able to walk.”
Su Meng looked up. “City Lord has things he’s afraid of too? You’re afraid of ghosts?”
Xia Yunzhao was just about to comfort him a little more when a white figure flashed at the edge of his vision. He immediately forgot all about the younger brother beside him. “Shang Shuangze! You’re finally back!”
He reached out by habit and, sure enough, caught a cool hand.
Seeing that the City Lord had already thrown himself into Senior Shang’s arms, Su Meng grinned and obediently went away to help his brother and the others prepare the game they had caught.
Xia Yunzhao forgot everything else. He pulled Shang Shuangze closer and examined him from every angle. “How are your injuries? Let me see!”
Shang Shuangze did not mind letting him look, but when Xia Yunzhao grew so anxious that he nearly pulled open his collar, Shang Shuangze had no choice but to press down his hands. “I’m fine.”
Xia Yunzhao was anxious. “You traded a sword strike with Zhu Lingzi. How could you possibly be fine? Let me look!”
Helplessly, Shang Shuangze lowered his head and pressed his forehead against Xia Yunzhao’s. He wrapped Xia Yunzhao’s divine sense and spiritual power with his own and guided them through his sea of consciousness and qi sea.
“Believe me now?”
The feeling of their souls… “intermingling” was far too pleasant. A faint blush rose uncontrollably on Xia Yunzhao’s face and he coughed twice. “Mm-hm.” Shang Shuangze was about the same as him. His injuries were already no longer serious, with only a slight sluggishness in the circulation of spiritual power.
Looking again, Xia Yunzhao realized he had pulled Shang Shuangze’s collar open. He carefully fixed it for him, then looked up and grinned.
What could Shang Shuangze possibly do with him? There were too many people around to kiss him.
“Right!” Xia Yunzhao suddenly remembered. “Didn’t you say the spiritual energy nearby was abnormal? What did you find?”
Shang Shuangze nodded. “A spirit vein.”
Xia Yunzhao needed a second to process that, then shot upright. “W-w-what? A spirit vein? The kind of spirit vein I’m thinking of?”
Shang Shuangze pulled him back down to sit. Behind them, Jing Ruyun suppressed a laugh. “Exactly.” She pointed to the side. “And we have these little ones to thank!”
Xia Yunzhao looked over. No wonder he had not seen the little creatures after waking up. They had gone out with the investigation team.
Crimson-Cloud Brocadefish, Xianchan, and Xianbao were all there.
Crimson-Cloud Brocadefish was sitting in a jade basin. It had its own pool, a spirit-jade water tank, and a spirit-jade basin. Whenever it wanted to go out but was too lazy to make its own bubble, it simply had someone carry it around in the basin. They were all made of spirit jade anyway, so it made little difference.
At the moment it floated comfortably in its basin while Zhuo Lingling broke apart spirit pills and fed them to it piece by piece. Ever since Xia Yunzhao fed it spirit pills that one time, it had fallen in love with them. They even had to be refined by Xia Yunzhao himself. Pills bought elsewhere were apparently unacceptable.
So whenever anyone in the group wanted to ask a favor of the fish, which usually meant asking for good luck, they offered it a spirit pill as payment.
Xianchan was chewing on a dried little fish. Nearby, Su Ying was grilling fish. Some were so small that humans found them troublesome to eat, so they had been set aside for Xianchan.
Xianbao, meanwhile, was hugging a huge chunk of spirit ore and slowly grinding it down with its two front teeth. Its short tail swept happily back and forth, a sure sign it was pleased.
Jing Ruyun continued, “Crimson-Cloud Brocadefish and Xianbao led us to a very well-hidden spirit vein not far from here. Senior Shang took a look and said Zhu Lingzi probably dug that piece of Spirit-Jade Resin out of this vein.”
Xia Yunzhao nodded. “So that’s how it was.” Then he looked at Xianchan, who was happily eating away. This little guy did not seem to have contributed anything, yet it had already eaten five dried fish.
Zhuo Lingling giggled, picked Xianchan up, and kissed its little belly. “Xianchan is cute! Being cute is the greatest contribution!”
Xianchan let her hold it and shamelessly gave a roar. “Mrrrow!” Three more dried fish!
Mentioning Spirit-Jade Resin made Xia Yunzhao think of Xiang Yu again, and he sighed softly. Zhu Lingzi had thrown all of them out, but Xiang Yu certainly would not have been that lucky. He was the vessel carrying the Human-Origin Dao Embryo. No matter what happened, Zhu Lingzi would never give him up.
“So what exactly is this Human-Origin Dao Embryo?” Zhong Yundu asked.
Xia Yunzhao thought for a moment. “Do you know what it means to attain the Dao?”
Everyone looked at each other and shook their heads. If they knew what it meant to attain the Dao, they would have ascended already. Why would they still be sitting here?
Xia Yunzhao explained, “Some people have never attained the Dao but still covet ascension. They use a pure spirit item as the catalyst, draw in the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth, and add the vitality of tens of thousands of people. From that, a Dao Embryo can be nurtured. Supposedly, consuming it allows someone to attain the Dao and ascend.”
He spread his hands. “As for exactly how it’s done, I don’t know either.” The information Xiao Qing had drawn said only this about the Human-Origin Dao Embryo: “This method violates heavenly harmony. The details will not be given.”
Zhu Lingzi had simply used methods that violated heavenly harmony anyway, and he had used two of them at once. Xia Yunzhao did not even know what to say.
He sighed softly. “I wonder what happened to Baoyu City.”
Du Yan comforted him. “Rest for now. We’ll deal with it tomorrow morning.”
Everyone rested for the entire night. Early the next morning, they woke to a familiar bustle of voices.
One after another, they sat up and exchanged glances. Jing Ruyun asked hesitantly, “Are we back in Qingxi City? Why does this sound like the gates of Qingxi City?”
Xia Yunzhao crawled out of his Dao companion’s arms and looked into the distance. “That’s Baoyu City’s gate. There’s a long line… Are the people inside all right? Quick, let’s go look!”
Shang Shuangze did not even need to withdraw his arm. He simply wrapped it around Xia Yunzhao’s waist and happily went with him.
The others exchanged looks behind them and had no choice but to follow.
The group arrived at Baoyu City’s gate. The traces left by the previous battle were still there, yet the busy crowd moving in and out looked as though everything had returned to normal.
Xia Yunzhao hesitated. “Are they waiting for us to go inside so they can trap us?”
Shang Shuangze closed his eyes and released his divine sense. After a long moment, he shook his head. “It doesn’t seem so. Every formation in the city is gone.”
In the end, everyone decided to enter and take a look.
Everything in the city was normal. It was almost as though the Heaven-and-Earth Furnace and the Human-Origin Dao Embryo had only been a dream shared by a handful of them.
They went to Huiying Tower and relaxed slightly when they saw that the manager and the waiter were unchanged. They were still the same people as before.
The manager saw them come in and hurried over to greet them. “My, honored guests! Your arrival brings glory to our humble establishment! Is this your first time here? The third floor and above are reserved for distinguished guests. Please, come inside!”
Xia Yunzhao asked, “Manager, we’ve been here before. Don’t you remember us?”
The manager hurriedly smiled apologetically. “Look at this memory of mine, I didn’t recognize you… Did honored guests perhaps visit several years ago?” Inwardly, however, he wondered whether these great cultivators had mistaken the place. With looks like theirs, even if they had visited five years ago, there was no way he would have forgotten them. Cultivators did not exactly grow old…
Xia Yunzhao looked him up and down, then suddenly changed the question. “Manager, may I ask whether the City Lord here is Zhu Lingzi?”
The manager’s heart jumped and he became even more cautious. “Honored guest, could you have taken the wrong road? Our City Lord’s name is Liu Cheng. Who is this Lord Zhu Lingzi? This humble one has never heard of him!”
The moment those words left his mouth, everyone froze.
Xia Yunzhao and Shang Shuangze exchanged a look and finally confirmed it. The memories of everyone in Baoyu City had been altered.
