LC – Chapter 45: Obsession Secret Realm

After waking from its long nap, the bronze pig was bursting with energy. It burrowed around inside Xia Yunzhao’s robe and kept trying to poke its head out. Xia Yunzhao could barely hold it down.

Xu Ziyu saw him acting strangely but could not be bothered arguing with him. He pointed deeper into the bamboo forest. “There seems to be mutated Thousand-Jointed Bamboo over there. If you want it, go take a look.”

“They did say spirit plants are more likely to mutate during the Mist-Barrier Period.” Xia Yunzhao glanced in that direction. “Mutated Thousand-Jointed Bamboo should be a Level-Two spirit plant, right? You don’t want it? Is there any spirit herb you need?” As he spoke, he rummaged through his storage pouch. “Hmm… I gathered loads of Ghost-Face Lantern Mushrooms. Want some? There have been so many of them lately…”

Xu Ziyu waved to show he did not need any, then pretended not to care as he said, “If you happen to find Cold-Jade Ice Shavings, I can trade pills for them. But that stuff doesn’t exist on Liancui Mountain. If you can’t find any, forget it.”

Xia Yunzhao nodded, committed Cold-Jade Ice Shavings to memory, and told Xu Ziyu the location of his cave dwelling.

Xu Ziyu waved and left in carefree fashion.

Watching his back, Xia Yunzhao smiled. “I used to worry whether he’d have problems living alone in a cave guarding a solitary grave. Looks like there’s no need to worry.”

Inside his robe, Xiao Qing finally poked its head out furtively. The moment Xia Yunzhao saw it, he opened the lid. Its meaning was obvious: no idea how long I slept, but I definitely missed several meals! Feed me!

Xia Yunzhao sighed, grabbed a handful of spirit pearls, and stuffed them into its mouth. Then he made the astonishing discovery that Xiao Qing’s appetite had increased yet again! Previously, five hundred spirit pearls could fill one progress bar. Now, by his conservative estimate, it took at least one thousand!

Children grew far too quickly. So this was what people meant when they said a half-grown boy could eat his old man poor…

Xia Yunzhao sighed with the weariness of a parent. “Come on. Let’s collect more Thousand-Jointed Bamboo this time. There are lots of cultivators around lately, so I can make more Water-Purifying Gourds and earn money…”

The corner of Shang Shuangze’s mouth lifted. Mingyun had already flown from its sheath, circled once through the bamboo grove, then returned. One by one, the bamboo stalks across from them toppled over.

“Good job, Mingyun!” Xia Yunzhao rushed over happily to collect the bamboo. The air was filled with the fresh scent of bamboo sap. “Huh? This section is full. There’s Thousand-Jointed Bamboo Sap inside! Haha, our luck is good!”

Thousand-Jointed Bamboo Sap was a by-product of Thousand-Jointed Bamboo, a spiritual liquid that accumulated inside bamboo joints as the plant grew. Finding it depended entirely on luck. With good luck, one bamboo stalk might contain ten full sections. With bad luck, even a hundred stalks might not contain one.

Although Thousand-Jointed Bamboo Sap was only Level One, it sold for a very high price. Many cultivator shops even displayed it among Level-Two spirit items. That was because not only was it difficult to find, its effects were excellent. Its medicinal power was mild, it could directly nourish the meridians when consumed, and it contained the power of life origin.

Xia Yunzhao removed the heavy bamboo section and stored it separately, then quickly packed away the other sections.

Once the entire patch of bamboo had fallen, he immediately spotted the mutated Thousand-Jointed Bamboo Xu Ziyu had mentioned.

The plant stood out sharply among the surrounding emerald bamboo. Its stalk was only one-fifth as thick as ordinary Thousand-Jointed Bamboo, and it was red, a warm red like red jade, translucent and lustrous just like the gemstone.

Xia Yunzhao knew Thousand-Jointed Bamboo could mutate, but he did not know what kind of mutation this was. He asked Shang Shuangze, “Have you seen one before?”

Shang Shuangze thought about it. “It seems to be Red Jade Bamboo. I heard the stalk stays warm. If you listen closely beside it, you can hear flowing water. Eating it strengthens qi and blood and nourishes the physical body.”

Xia Yunzhao immediately became interested. He ran over, leaned close to the slender bamboo stalk, and listened carefully. “There really does seem to be water flowing inside!” Then he touched it and stared in surprise. “It really is warm!”

It was not scorching hot, but close to human body temperature. Combined with the faint resonance created by the sound of water moving inside, touching it felt strangely like touching a living creature.

Xia Yunzhao looked up at the plant’s height. “Do you think we could transplant it into the valley?”

Shang Shuangze thought for a moment. “It would probably be difficult.”

Xia Yunzhao had only been asking casually and immediately gave up on the idea himself. “True. Mutated Thousand-Jointed Bamboo only appears in a tiny fraction of cases. It must be really hard to grow.”

If he could not cultivate it, then never mind. The Red Jade Bamboo was already mature, so he simply stored it in his storage pouch.

The Thousand-Jointed Bamboo grove was large, containing several thousand stalks in total. Xia Yunzhao was not greedy enough to take them all. Although his Hundred-Compartment Pouch had enough space, he could not dedicate the entire thing to bamboo. In the end, he collected only a little over two hundred stalks. He left the rest growing where they were, memorized the location, and could simply return another day.

For the next portion of the journey, he turned off the Spirit-Seeking Compass. The two concentrated on traveling and continued until they were far enough away that the Fang family patrols could no longer reach them.

Only then did he turn the Spirit-Seeking Compass back on and begin searching for Clearheart Flowers.

Watching one light after another appear on the compass, Xia Yunzhao muttered, “If I’d known we needed Clearheart Flowers, we could’ve searched along the route to the Floating Ark. That place was far enough away that the Fang family definitely couldn’t reach it.”

He continued, “I still don’t understand why the Fang family destroyed all the Clearheart Flowers and Soul-Calming Grass. They eat human food but refuse to act human…” Then he remembered the wicked Blood Refining Scripture and corrected himself. “Actually, they probably don’t even eat human food.”

Shang Shuangze’s fingers moved slightly. Unable to resist, he brushed the back of his hand against Xia Yunzhao’s cheek.

“Huh? Was there something on my face?” Xia Yunzhao tilted his head and rubbed his cheek against his collar. “You got it off?”

Shang Shuangze withdrew his hand. “Mm. It’s gone.”

Xia Yunzhao continued as though nothing had happened. “If we can find Clearheart Flowers this time, I’ll refine Clearheart Pills first. Same as before, we’ll keep the high-grade pills for ourselves. Once the Heart-Illusion stage begins, I’ll sell the mid-grade and low-grade ones. The price should be much…”

Halfway through, his expression suddenly darkened. “Do you think the Fang family knew the Mist-Barrier Period would have a Heart-Illusion stage, and that’s why they destroyed Clearheart Flowers and Soul-Calming Grass? Were they trying to make cultivators suffer qi deviation during Heart-Illusion?”

Shang Shuangze was just about to answer when voices came from nearby. The two exchanged a glance and vanished simultaneously.

A group emerged from the nearby forest. They wore identical gray magical robes, each with the character “Du” embroidered on the hem.

They were members of the Beiliang Du family. It seemed Xia Yunzhao and Shang Shuangze really had traveled far enough.

The man leading them looked around and frowned. “Nothing here. Search somewhere else!”

“Yes!” The group scattered and began searching the area.

The leader still was not satisfied. “Hurry! The pill cultivator gathering is about to begin. Pill Master Lipan said he will refine Clearheart Pills for us only if we gather one hundred Clearheart Flowers before the gathering begins! Not one fewer!”

Everyone immediately tensed. “Yes!”

They gradually searched farther away. Behind a boulder, Xia Yunzhao gave Shang Shuangze a look: Move!

A short while later, the two appeared beside a small river. According to the Spirit-Seeking Compass, quite a few spirit items were nearby.

As Xia Yunzhao searched, he said, “Those people should be from Beiliang City’s Du family… Makes sense. Rogue cultivators might not know the details of the Mist-Barrier Period, but cultivation families have been passing down knowledge for hundreds of years. They’re bound to know. Xu Ziyu mentioned that pill cultivator gathering before too, but he never gave me the details. I’ll ask him another day. If it sounds interesting, we can go have a look.”

How could Shang Shuangze possibly object? He simply nodded.

Xia Yunzhao suddenly leaned closer to him. “It’s always me deciding where we go. Shang Shuangze, is there anywhere you want to visit? Apart from searching for those antidote spirit herbs before, you never seem to have a destination. Why did you come down the mountain in the first place?”

Shang Shuangze looked at him. “My cultivation had reached a bottleneck, so Master told me to descend the mountain and see the mortal world. Originally, I intended to travel across the Thirteen Continents and wander the whole world.”

When Shang Shuangze stopped speaking, Xia Yunzhao asked, “And afterward?”

Shang Shuangze said, “Afterward, I realized that if one wishes to understand the mortal world, it may not be necessary to travel everywhere beneath heaven.”

Xia Yunzhao looked confused. “Then what do you do?”

Shang Shuangze parted the grass and gestured for him to look down. “Clearheart Flower.”

“Oh! We really found one!” Xia Yunzhao immediately bent down and dug it up. “There are three more nearby. Hurry, let’s look!”

Shang Shuangze smiled and helped him continue searching.

That day, they found six Clearheart Flowers and dug up two Soul-Calming Grass plants. Afterward, they decided to spend the night beside the river.

They had traveled too far to make it home before nightfall. Besides, even if they returned tonight, they would only have to run all the way back tomorrow morning. It would be pointless.

There were puppets watching the house, and they had activated the defensive barrier before leaving. There was nothing else to worry about.

As for the little civet? She took excellent care of herself and her kittens! Xiao Xia had seen her secretly drinking the water used for irrigating spirit plants. That water came from the Water-Purifying Gourd and contained spiritual energy, so naturally it tasted much better than mountain spring water.

Later, Xia Yunzhao placed a wooden bucket nearby and filled it with spiritual water specifically for her.

Yet she still preferred stealing the water meant for the spirit plants, especially in the mornings when the puppets were busy watering them. Thus, every morning, Xia Yunzhao could watch the puppets and the little civet battle wits.

In short, there was nothing at home to worry about.

The conditions outside were rougher. Not only were they sleeping beneath the open sky, they also had to guard against slaughter beasts that might attack at any moment.

Fortunately, Xia Yunzhao was with Shang Shuangze. Perhaps Mingyun had killed so many slaughter beasts that its bloody aura had become frightening. Slaughter beasts with sharp senses detected it and were unwilling to approach.

So whenever Xia Yunzhao was too lazy to move, he simply pulled Mingyun from its sheath and stuck it into the ground beside them. Things usually became much quieter.

A campfire crackled before them, while river water murmured nearby. Xiao Xia yawned. “It’s too early to sleep, but this environment isn’t suitable for cultivation, and refining pills is even more impossible…” Suddenly, his eyes brightened. He tugged at Shang Shuangze’s sleeve. “Why don’t we go fishing? I brought fishing gear!”

Shang Shuangze opened his eyes. “Fishing? Here?”

“Let’s try! We have nothing else to do. The spirit herbs around this river are such high level, so there must be plenty of fish slaughter beasts in the water. Let’s compete and see who catches the more valuable one.” As he spoke, Xia Yunzhao took out two fishing rods and a net. Chang Haiping and the others had left them behind before moving away, and Xia Yunzhao had kept them with him ever since.

He was actually quite interested in fishing. When he was young, whenever the weekend came and his parents asked where he wanted to go, if he had no other ideas he would suggest going fishing at a farmstay. Unfortunately, both he and his father were members of the empty-handed fishing brigade and rarely caught anything.

He wondered whether his luck would improve now that he was in the cultivation world.

“These fishing rods are ordinary items. They’re a little weak…” Xiao Xia thought about it, then suddenly smiled. “Actually, that’s easy enough to fix!”

He brought two fingers together, circulated spiritual energy, and inscribed a string of runes along one fishing rod.

Those rune reference materials had truly found their ideal owner in him. After studying them repeatedly for some time, he now understood them thoroughly. Never mind mid-level and high-level runes for now. He could already use low-level runes freely.

Unfortunately, he had yet to find the materials required to manufacture blank talisman paper. Otherwise, he would already be mass-producing talismans.

Xia Yunzhao carved runes onto the second fishing rod as well, then handed it to Shang Shuangze. “Want to try?”

Shang Shuangze readily agreed. He took the rod, copied Xia Yunzhao, attached bait, and cast the line into the river.

Their bait was half of a Fragrant-Grass Sheep left over from a meal. Fragrant-Grass Sheep tasted excellent and had a distinctive fragrance, so Xiao Xia always hunted several whenever he encountered them and saved the meat to eat slowly.

Facts proved that everyone loved delicious food, even slaughter beasts.

The two had not been sitting long when Shang Shuangze’s hook moved. His hand was steady. With one turn of his wrist, he pulled the line from the water. Hanging from the hook was a Level-One fish-type slaughter beast. Its body was covered in golden scales, its mouth resembled an arrowhead, and a long row of sharp teeth filled its jaws. It looked both extremely fast and extremely dangerous.

Xia Yunzhao leaned over. “Whoa! A Golden-Scale Arrowfish! I heard the meat is tender and delicious. And its main bone can be used to make talisman brushes! Let’s roast it later?”

Naturally, Shang Shuangze handed the fish over for him to handle. Xiao Xia happily dropped it into the wooden bucket they had prepared, then asked Shang Shuangze to throw a spiritual-power orb over the opening so it could not jump out.

Perhaps nobody ever fished on Liancui Mountain, because the fish-type slaughter beasts in the river were incredibly naive. Before long, Xiao Xia’s rod moved too. He pulled it up and found a fish even larger than Shang Shuangze’s. Its body was entirely silver, its scales were fine, and it had a broad mouth filled with equally sharp teeth. When its jaws opened and closed, they even produced a sound resembling a blade sliding back into its sheath.

“Oh, this is a Bladefish.” Xia Yunzhao recognized it. “Its teeth are artifact-refining materials, and apparently they sell for a decent price. The meat is tough though, so it doesn’t taste very good.” He tossed the fish into the large wooden bucket, then cast again.

Xia Yunzhao continued, “Even if it tastes bad, that’s fine. We can take it home for the little civet. She probably won’t be picky.”

Shang Shuangze thought otherwise. That little cat stole spiritual water every day and sometimes deliberately appeared at mealtimes, relying on Xia Yunzhao’s affection to beg for meat. With this level of indulgence, becoming picky seemed inevitable.

They fished for a while longer. Shang Shuangze next caught a Black-Patterned Carp, a lowest-grade slaughter beast that looked almost identical to an ordinary carp except for a black stripe across its belly. Apparently, it tasted about the same too.

Xia Yunzhao’s rod remained still for quite some time. He was wondering whether it was so late that all the fish had gone to sleep when something suddenly jerked against his palm. He hurriedly grabbed the rod before it slipped free. “I think I caught something huge! It’s really strong!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the rod was dragged downward again, nearly pulling Xia Yunzhao into the water. He immediately tightened his core and braced himself. “It’s so heavy! Help!”

Before he could even ask, Shang Shuangze had already dropped his own fishing rod and stepped behind him, one hand holding Xia Yunzhao steady while the other helped stabilize the rod.

Xia Yunzhao felt a cool yet gentle stream of spiritual power leave Shang Shuangze’s fingertips, pass along the fishing rod and line, and enter the water. With a loud splash, something enormous was yanked out. Then came three heavy drumbeats: Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sounds resembled a huge drum being struck. Xia Yunzhao’s eardrums nearly burst. “What is this thing…”

Hanging from the hook was a massive turtle nearly the size of a millstone. It looked unlike an ordinary turtle. Its shell was made of stone and resembled a huge drum. Whenever the creature exerted force, some invisible power struck the drum-like shell and produced a tremendous boom.

Xia Yunzhao said, “No, we can’t let it keep doing that. Why do I feel like…”

Before he finished, the turtle, whether frightened or provoking them, suddenly slammed its shell again!

The water underneath it abruptly distorted. White light burst out, wrapped around Xia Yunzhao and Shang Shuangze, then vanished.

Two fishing rods dropped where they had been standing. The two people were already gone.

*

“Aaaaaah, we’re so high! Ow!” Xia Yunzhao fell flailing from midair. Just before he struck the ground, someone caught his hand, turned in midair, and placed himself beneath Xia Yunzhao.

The moment they landed, Xia Yunzhao scrambled up and frantically felt along Shang Shuangze’s chest. “Shang Shuangze, are you okay? Did you hit anything? Are you hurt?” He pulled out pills and shoved them into Shang Shuangze’s mouth without waiting. “Quick, quick! Bloodstanching Pill, Qi-Replenishing Pill! Did you break any bones?”

Shang Shuangze did not manage to say a single word before being forced to swallow a handful of pills. Only then did he lean back slightly. His Adam’s apple moved visibly as he swallowed. “I’m fine.”

“…Ahem. Good, good.” Xia Yunzhao suddenly had no idea what to do with his hands. He hurriedly climbed off Shang Shuangze’s chest and looked away, surveying the surroundings. “Where are we? Are we still on Liancui Mountain?”

They seemed to be standing at the entrance to a small medicinal garden. A broken little gate stood before them, and several spirit fields could be seen beyond it. The area was not large. All the spirit herbs growing there had withered, and the garden appeared to have been abandoned for a very long time.

Yet when they looked away from the garden and toward their surroundings, they saw nothing but white emptiness. There was nothing else at all. It felt as though they were no longer in the real world.

Shang Shuangze had never seen anything like this either and shook his head slightly.

Xia Yunzhao cautiously approached the medicinal garden. Beside its broken gate was a stone tablet half buried in the earth. Words were carved across it. From a short distance away, Xiao Xia carefully read them.

“Huh? This seems to record the life of a cultivator. Look. His name was Pu Heyun. Foundation Establishment. Gentle temperament. Specialized in divine sense. He passed away here at the end of his lifespan, having lived two hundred and four years… What kind of place is this? Did that cultivator realize he was nearing the end of his life and come here deliberately? And how did we get inside?”

As Xia Yunzhao spoke, he felt Shang Shuangze’s hand move. Shang Shuangze said, “I know where this is.”

Xia Yunzhao asked, “Where?”

Shang Shuangze said, “This is a cultivator’s Obsession Secret Realm.” He explained, “When cultivators with powerful divine sense pass away, if an unresolved obsession remains in their hearts, an Obsession Secret Realm can form. This Senior was only at Foundation Establishment, but since he specialized in divine sense, his divine sense was probably stronger than that of an ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivator. It isn’t surprising that he could form an Obsession Secret Realm.”

So that was it… Xia Yunzhao very much wanted to imitate Shang Shuangze and say, “I’ve been enlightened.” Instead, he quickly asked, “Then how do we get out?”

Shang Shuangze said regretfully, “Every Obsession Secret Realm is different and depends entirely on the cultivator’s obsession. If we wish to leave, we have to resolve his obsession.”

“Obsession…” Xia Yunzhao scratched his head. “There’s a medicinal garden inside his Obsession Secret Realm, so his obsession was related to the garden? What kind of unresolved obsession could a medicinal garden have?”

There was no way to solve this by blind guessing. The two could only enter the garden and begin examining it.

The medicinal garden was very small and contained no buildings, only four spirit fields planted with spirit herbs. Because they had gone untended for so long, every herb had withered and its spiritual energy had dissipated. They could not even identify what the plants had originally been.

The once-delicate fence surrounding the medicinal garden had also fallen into ruin.

It was obvious that this had once been a lovely, carefully tended little garden.

Xia Yunzhao grew spirit herbs himself. After looking around, he suddenly understood something. “Could it be that his obsession isn’t merely related to this garden, but actually is the garden itself?”

Shang Shuangze immediately understood. “Clean and restore the garden?”

“And repair the fence too! Let’s try it!”

They immediately got to work. The moment they formed the intention, tools and materials appeared from thin air beside the garden. The two looked at one another and knew they had probably guessed correctly.

Using the tools and materials, they restored the garden. They repaired the fence, removed all the dead weeds, and even cleaned the paths separating the spirit fields.

During the process, Xia Yunzhao learned quite a few spirit-herb cultivation techniques. For example, different spirit herbs required different spacing, and some actually needed to be planted closer together.

Once everything was finished, the tools disappeared and the little medicinal garden looked completely renewed. Yet they still could not leave.

“Are we still missing something?” Xia Yunzhao thought about it. “The most important thing in a medicinal garden is obviously the spirit herbs. We fixed the garden, but the plants are still dead. That can’t be right.”

Shang Shuangze raised a hand and produced a chain of spiritual-power orbs. They bounced among the spirit herbs and dispersed, replenishing them with spiritual power. Sure enough, green began spreading from the roots of the plants, but it stopped halfway. Half of each leaf remained withered. The excess spiritual power turned into glowing motes that drifted over the spirit fields.

Still not enough.

“If spiritual power isn’t what they lack, then…” Xia Yunzhao thought briefly, formed a hand seal, and chanted, “Summon clouds, gather water, let rain fall upon my fields… Little Cloud Rain!”

A tiny bolt of lightning snapped through the air, followed by a miniature dark cloud. Scattered spiritual energy from the spirit fields gathered into the cloud, and rain began pattering down.

Xia Yunzhao: …

It looked like an enormous showerhead. Not imposing in the slightest.

The spirit herbs did not seem to mind. Feeling spiritual rain fall from above, they spread their leaves and greedily drank. Their leaves turned tender green as though freshly painted. Crystal-clear droplets gathered on the surfaces, then rolled from the tips. It almost sounded as though the plants were happily playing in the rain.

Inside the tiny medicinal garden, spirit plants that were meant to flower bloomed, while those meant to produce leaves unfurled them. In moments, the whole place became vibrant with life.

Xia Yunzhao stared, his eyes suddenly widening. “These are… this many Clearheart Flowers and Soul-Calming Grass?!”

Shang Shuangze said, “Both types of spirit herb nourish divine sense. It isn’t strange for a cultivator specializing in divine sense to grow them.”

Xia Yunzhao stared hungrily. “Right, right. Not strange at all…”

After one wave of rain, Little Cloud Rain dispersed. The white emptiness above the garden was no longer completely blank. A vague human silhouette appeared, accompanied by bright, open laughter. The figure spoke. “Before my death, the thing I worried about most was this little medicinal garden of mine. I never imagined it would become an obsession and trouble those who came after me.”

The figure straightened his robes and bowed to the two below.

Xia Yunzhao opened his mouth but did not know what to say. This Senior had already passed away. What remained here was merely a remnant of his obsession, or perhaps an image.

Still, when he thought about it, for someone’s final unresolved obsession to be that nobody would care for his little medicinal garden… somehow, it was rather adorable.

The figure straightened and said freely, “I do not know whether the one who comes after me will be a divine-sense cultivator, nor whether these spirit herbs will be useful to you. There are two hundred and forty-eight plants here. I give them all to you. Thank you for resolving my obsession and settling this karmic tie.”

Xia Yunzhao instantly became wide awake. “This many spirit herbs, all for me? Really?!”

The figure nodded slightly, smiled, and disappeared.

The entire Obsession Secret Realm began shaking. It seemed likely to collapse soon.

Xia Yunzhao rolled up his sleeves and charged into the spirit fields. “Hurry! We can’t leave a single plant behind!”

Once he said that, who would dare slack off? Even Xiao Qing and Mingyun flew out. Neither child could really do much. They were essentially there for moral support.

Fortunately, Xia Yunzhao and Shang Shuangze had become extremely practiced at gathering spirit herbs. At the final moment before the Obsession Secret Realm shattered, they stuffed every plant away, then were thrown out.

As usual, Xia Yunzhao landed directly on Shang Shuangze. He stood up and discovered that they had returned to the riverbank. The wooden bucket remained where they had left it, the two fish inside still splashing energetically. Nobody had touched the two fishing rods either.

Only the stone-shelled turtle had disappeared.

Dawn had begun whitening the sky. Xia Yunzhao rubbed his shoulder and checked the Hundred-Compartment Pouch. More than two hundred Clearheart Flowers and Soul-Calming Grass were safely stored inside. He immediately smiled. “It was real. I thought I’d dreamed it. Do you think that stone turtle might have been the gatekeeper beast for the Obsession Secret Realm?”

Shang Shuangze shook his head. “I don’t know.”

Xia Yunzhao did not dwell on it. Smiling, he said, “I’ve noticed that every time I come out with you, my luck is amazing! Come on, let’s go ba…” Before he finished the last word, he heard voices nearby and immediately lowered his voice. “Come on. Let’s go home.”

The two quickly collected their belongings and flashed away. A group emerged from the neighboring forest. It was the Du family again.

After inspecting the area, one reported, “There were Clearheart Flowers here, but somebody picked them.”

The leader’s expression darkened. “Those people are competing with us for Clearheart Flowers. If you see them, attack immediately!”

Xia Yunzhao, who had not yet gone far and heard every word, curled his lip. Because of Du Yan and Du Qianshan, he had originally held a decent impression of the Beiliang Du family. Now it seemed all these cultivation families behaved the same way.

What did they mean, “competing with us for Clearheart Flowers”? They meant that if they saw somebody else holding Clearheart Flowers, they would simply rob them.

Even they knew that sounded disgraceful, so they had to dress it up with prettier words?

Xia Yunzhao gave Shang Shuangze a look and sped up again. Come on. We’re not playing with idiots. Let’s go home and refine pills!
