“Your Highness,” Mu Xueshi said earnestly, rubbing his arms against the chill air, “I repent sincerely. I shall accept my punishment now.”
Turning eagerly, he leapt into the water like a mermaid—only for the prince’s sharp command to cut through the air:
“Stop.”
Mu Xueshi surfaced, indignant. Why not say so earlier? He reluctantly swam back, muttering under his breath.
Once ashore, he shot the prince a look. “Next time, please instruct in advance so I may prepare myself.”
The prince chuckled softly. None had ever dared instruct him so boldly. Yet he was in no hurry. A delicacy so near should be savored properly.
“Disrobe me,” he commanded, spreading his arms.
Mu Xueshi blinked, then nodded solemnly. “As you command.”
Suppressing his irritation, he carefully removed the prince’s robes one by one. The Third Prince’s tall, powerfully built frame emerged—muscle defined and commanding, utterly unlike Mu Xueshi’s slender grace.
Curious, Mu Xueshi even compared their arms, inhaling sharply at the difference.
From beginning to end, his expression remained entirely natural.
The prince had expected embarrassment, but found none. Somehow, that only deepened his intrigue.
Together, they entered Lingzi Lake.
The water had already regained its pristine clarity, reflecting their forms beneath the surface. Mu Xueshi splashed playfully nearby, then even offered to scrub the prince’s back in eager appeasement.
The Third Prince was, after all, only human.
He turned swiftly—
—and met Mu Xueshi’s bright, innocent eyes, wide as a newborn fawn’s, utterly unaware of the fire he stirred.
For a fleeting moment, the prince’s breath caught in his throat.
